(More customer reviews)I have had the privilege of owning the Microtek ScanMaker 5950 for just over 2 years. As a Realtor, I find myself daily scanning large numbers of pages. The autofeeder works perfectly for normal-texture paper. I have found that it does not do well with glossy. Also you will not want to put more than about 20 pages in the autofeeder. But within these limits, you can just hit scan, walk away, come back in a minute or two and have all of your documents saved in a pdf document.
The quality of images produced do not seem to be as sharp as my photo-quality Epson scanner, but that is not what this scanner is for. If you want to keep digital records of the paper documents that pass your desk everyday, I cannot recommend any other scanner in this price range. I have used it primarily for archival purposes but also for scanning for faxing from my computer.
For what this scanner is marketed for, scanning documents via the document feeder, I don't think you can find anything better.
