(More customer reviews)I am a radio technician and work on many different radios daily. The Cobra 29 line of radios is a time proven design. The radio works well but quality has suffered somewhat when Cobra started having the 29 line of CBs made in China. The quality was much better when their radios were made in the Phillipines. Phillipine made radios are highly sought after and collector items today. Any new Cobra radio you buy today will be made in China. If you are in the market for a CB radio then stick with the Cobra 29 LTD Classic, the Night Watch, or the Cobra 148. The smaller cheaper radios that Cobra sells are poorly made and nothing I would ever use or recommend. A good radio shop can peak and tune a Cobra 29 to sound as good as any CB radio on the market today. I personally charge $20.00 to peak and tune and it is well worth it if you want to keep the radio and use it often. Dont' take it to a shop that charges more than $40.00. $40.00 is too much in my opinion and anything more is a rip-off but if the work is done right then the $40.00 is well spent. Also do not buy a cheap antenna. Your radio is only as good as the antenna you connect it to. Never use an antenna under 4 feet in length. You will never get it work right. Also do not buy the Radio Shack antennas. They are junk in my opinion and expertise. Use either Wilson, K-40, Hustler or Hygain antennas. The Hustler HQ-27 is a great antenna. Also the Wilson Lil' Will antenna works great.
