Cobra 75 WX ST CB Radio Mic Review

Cobra 75 WX ST CB Radio Mic
Average Reviews:

I installed this CB in a newer Jeep Wrangler (JK). The hand-held size is great & the "brains" of the unit tucks away nicely & comes with groments to stub out the hook up to provide a real slick install. I added an external speaker from Radio Shack (around $20) & they work well together. I'd highly reccommend this unit

Cobra DALE EARNHARDT CB RADIO ( 29LTDDELE ) Review

Cobra DALE EARNHARDT CB RADIO ( 29LTDDELE )
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I am a radio technician and work on many different radios daily. The Cobra 29 line of radios is a time proven design. The radio works well but quality has suffered somewhat when Cobra started having the 29 line of CBs made in China. The quality was much better when their radios were made in the Phillipines. Phillipine made radios are highly sought after and collector items today. Any new Cobra radio you buy today will be made in China. If you are in the market for a CB radio then stick with the Cobra 29 LTD Classic, the Night Watch, or the Cobra 148. The smaller cheaper radios that Cobra sells are poorly made and nothing I would ever use or recommend. A good radio shop can peak and tune a Cobra 29 to sound as good as any CB radio on the market today. I personally charge $20.00 to peak and tune and it is well worth it if you want to keep the radio and use it often. Dont' take it to a shop that charges more than $40.00. $40.00 is too much in my opinion and anything more is a rip-off but if the work is done right then the $40.00 is well spent. Also do not buy a cheap antenna. Your radio is only as good as the antenna you connect it to. Never use an antenna under 4 feet in length. You will never get it work right. Also do not buy the Radio Shack antennas. They are junk in my opinion and expertise. Use either Wilson, K-40, Hustler or Hygain antennas. The Hustler HQ-27 is a great antenna. Also the Wilson Lil' Will antenna works great.

Very good radio, heavy and large. The only thing I dont like about the radio is the GNF Galaxy Noise Filter it dont sound good unless you get a external speaker. I use it as a base radio. I had it in my truck got rave reviews on how strong it got out. I fell in love with it enough to bring it in as a base radio and take a cheaper base used radio out to my work truck. I was sort of concerned that somebody could try to steal it also. It's not cheep but you will get what you pay for. If you want a radio that puts out monster audio this is the radio to have :)

Cobra 29 LX LE 50th Anniversary CB Radio Review

Cobra 29 LX LE 50th Anniversary CB Radio
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Cobra 29 50th Anniversary CB is a very attractive radio. With it's "cutting edge" digital display (I only say cutting edge because digital displays have been around for how long, seriously?) it's the first CB radio that I am aware of to offer this feature.
I just got back into CBing and I had a pretty easy time setting it up. The Radio Tests were the most useful and most confusing part of the radio. Upon first activation I kept getting a "Antenna Warning" which is something I'd never experienced before CBing in the past, simply because no other CB would warn you of poor performance or setup. I found out that the warning was simply because my antenna wasn't tuned properly.
The weather stations come in clearly and the scan feature is nice for trying to find conversations on channels other than 19. All other features seemed pretty standard. If something else comes to mind will comment later. Please ask a question if you think I'm wise enough to answer it. :-)
Overall, I like the radio. I only rated it 4 stars based on my limited experience with CB radios. I'll attach photos of it in my Jeep.

Uniden Bearcat PC78 Elite 40-Channel CB Radio Review

Uniden Bearcat PC78 Elite 40-Channel CB Radio
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have used CB'S for over twenty years, This one is the best I have used in that time. I might add that for me it is the "fanciest" one I have ever bought. I do find the weather channel to be useful as I commute across the country. The ergonomic mike is a pleasure to use, I expect to see copycats on the market soon. You could spend a lot more for a CB and not get any better performance.

Uniden Bearcat PC68 Elite 40-Channel CB Radio
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I own six CB radios of which this Bearcat is the only one that works in my pickup with the engine running - zero engine noise! Superb range even with my magnet mount antenna. I selected this one after reviewing the receiver sensitivity specifications and since I live in the California gold country foothills where cell phone service is marginal at best, the receiver sensitivity is very important.

Cobra 75WXST 40-Channel CB Radio Review

Cobra 75WXST 40-Channel CB Radio
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Cobra 75 WX ST Weatherband CB provides an incredible amount of functionality in a very small package. Installation is fast and easy - with a couple tools, your antenna mounted, and little skill, you can have this radio up and running in an hour or two.
CB radios are limited to low-power broadcasting at 4 watts or less. This radio provides maximum power allowed by law and is capable of some pretty incredible range under the right conditions. With a properly tuned, high-quality antenna, I have had coversations with others using the same radio up to 9 miles away. Under normal circumstances, 1-2 miles is more realistic.
As for features, this one has several:
- Scan (all 40 channels in sequence)
- Dual Scan (two channels of your choice)
- Memory
- Lock (so the hand controls don't get reset by accident)
- Weatherband (10 NOAA frequencies)
- Last 3 channels
- SoundTracker (like Dolby noise reduction)
I use mine in a 1999 Jeep Wrangler where there is little extra space for another device. It fits perfectly on my console with the small box hidden away inside.
I can listen to truckers while I am on the highway, talk to my friends when we go off-highway, or scan the channels for both when driving to and from the trails. In the two years I have used mine, it has never given me any problems. It is very sturdy and should stand up to hard use.
I purchased the optional external speaker so that it would be easier to hear but many people find the unit works well right out of the box!
There might be bigger, badder CB's out there, but this one is a peach!

Cobra 148 GTL 40-Channel CB Radio Review

Cobra 148 GTL 40-Channel CB Radio
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
First unit shipped to me received fine but the transmit audio was terrible. Even with the Dynamike turned up all the way people could barely hear me. Had to literally shout to be heard at all.
To Amazon's credit they sent me a replacement unit 2nd day air. Amazon has been great to deal with, as always.
This second radio seems to transmit fine so far. However, the speaker of this radio emits a constant, low volume, high pitched whine when receiving. The first radio did not have this "feature".
The good news is all of the controls and features seem to work correctly and the noise blanker and automatic noise limiter do a terrific job stopping car ignition noises. I figure I will keep this radio and live with the whine and hope no other problems crop up. If they do I will change my rating.

This is a very powerful unit that has so many features most people will never use them all. I bought this unit for one of my locations for dispatch purposes, and distance improved over the unit it replaced significantly. Price was, to me, on the high side, but after shopping around, there are very few CB base units available these days, and the price was in line with other models available. I have been very pleased with this product.

Cb Radio K30 35 Inch Magnet Mount Antenna Review

Cb Radio K30 35 Inch Magnet Mount Antenna
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
As an old (and I mean OLD) CB'er, I've been through about all the configurations of antennas you can imagine, from 102" whips to bottom loaders, mid-loaders, top-loaders and rabbit ears. In the end, the golden goal is to get that SWR rating down to as close to "1" as you can. The K30 consistently does this.
First off, if you are just throwing an antenna onto a store-bought CB, forget it...most won't come close to 2, let alone 1. Get a 2-3' jumper and an SWR meter, read the instructions on how to set the SWR, and plan on following these instructions to actually calibrate your antenna...doesn't matter who's antenna you buy. Out of the package, I find the K30 assembled comes in around 2.2 on channels 1 and 40, as has my last one I bought. After trimming 3/4" off the metal whip with a pair of snips, and a couple of dead-keys, I got the SWR balanced at 1.4 for channels 1 and 40, with channel 20 dead-keying 1.07. That's amazing for a $30 antenna! I am getting 3.97 watts out, 4.68 watts in at full Rf gain. I consistently get 12-15 mile communications with the K30, and can get out 10-12 miles on an average day...you just won't do this with another antenna...no matter how much you fight with it. While the Wilson 'Lil-Wil' looks similar, it is NOT close to being a true competitor.
Bottom line: the K30 is a great antenna. They provide you with enough whip, that you can trim it into good/great SWR. The magnet is strong and holds on well, without walking, at 70-mph. It grounds well. It can take a load if you use this on 10-meter, up to 300-watts...which is also nice, if you are like me swapping out the antenna between 11-meter CB and 10-meter bands. (I use a homemade quad on my 10-meter, but only because I like the 12-db gain from it...doesn't keep from testing little magnet-mounts, though).

Cobra 29 LTD CHR 40-Channel CB Radio With PA Capability Review

Cobra 29 LTD CHR 40-Channel CB Radio With PA Capability
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this radio to replace my old Cobra 29 LTD that I used for over 25 years. Most everyone I know uses Cobra radios because they are relatively inexpensive, well built, stylish, and they will work for many, many, years. In addition, these radios...especially the Cobra 25's and 29's can be tuned up quite easily and made to "talk" with really booming audio. The wife and I are full-time RV'ers and I can tell you I wouldn't travel without one. Many times we have been alerted to traffic jams, inclement weather headed our way, smokey the bear reports (Highway Patrol with Radar), and many other situations one would want to know about. Plus, it can be fun just listening to the truckers rant and rave and can keep you company on long trips, not to mention getting directions from town locals for a good spot to eat! I most highly recommend Cobra radios. You can't go wrong with one and they are a good radio to start out on as a hobby.
Pete

I've had my Cobra 29 for over five years now. It's been in four different trucks, and traveled over 500,000 miles with me. Once I added two wilson antennas and a power mic, I can get out over four miles on a good night. My personal record is a line of sight 130 miles from a mountainside. I love it. I was thinking of getting a galaxy, but why? I have a great radio here.

Uniden PC78LTW 40-Channel CB Radio
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I recently bought one of these radios for my semi tractor. I immediately fell in love with the backlit controls. Years ago, I owned the Cobra version of this radio, but I didn't like it as much as this one. The controls are laid out very logically and have a nice feel. The Delta tune has a center detent for "eyes free" operation as you drive. The weather channels are a welcome addition to a long drive, keeping you informed of changing and/or severe weather ahead. The only things I didn't care that much for are the Dynamic Squelch feature and the front mic connector. DSC doesn't seem to work too well, but I drive with the squelch off (to hear distant signals), so this doesn't detract from an otherwise great radio. Having owned various Cobras, Galaxies, and other "big" radios, I can honestly say I like the Uniden PC78LTW the best.

I have used Cobras for years. They are reliable, and well built. When my old one finally died, after many years of reliable service, I went looking for a replacement, and when I saw this one was Bluetooth enabled, I went with it. I am very pleased. Linkup with my cell phone was quick and easy, and if you have used a radio before, it works just the same. Both hands are free most of the time, and your field of vision is not impacted, the way it is when using a cell phone on the road. In addition, many states are now banning the use of cell phone while driving. But this allows you to continue to use your phone, in a legal manner. (Washington State comes to mind, but there are others.) Almost I am glad my previous one died.
