Unfortunately ID's are very nearly too thick to scan. If you use either of the included sleeves, a sleeve is used to pull the photo, receipt, etc through the scanner in an even manner, then the ID will be too thick and it will jam. Okay, so don't use the sleeve you say. Here's the problem with that. There appears to be only one drive wheel to pull the item to be scanned through the scanner and it's flush to the left. No matter in which orientation you try to scan the ID it will at best just skew, significantly enough that the auto-deskew can't correct it. However, it's more typical that it more than just skews the ID as it usually jogs around and may jam as well. In my experience, scanning ID's a no go.
As for photos, receipts, etc they seem to work fine when using the sleeve(s). Hence the three stars.
