(More customer reviews)My previous laptop had a built in fingerprint sensor, I became spoiled by the ease and security of just swiping my finger to log on. This product uses the same software that my laptop had, and I believe it's used by many computer manufacturers using fingerprint readers.
My current laptop a Toshiba Qosmio has face recognition that only works in bright light, even then it takes at least 10 sec. to "recognize" me. I gave up on it, too many bugs.
This reader plugs right into a USB port. When not in use, the connector plug recesses with the cover that protects the sensor, so it's extremely portable.
The one thing I've found, is I need to be careful with it sticking out of the USB port, I could see it being damaged if a heavy object were placed on the end of the reader with nothing under to support it, but the same is true with a flash drive.
I wish my laptop had a built in reader, or that the Toshiba's "new" technology worked properly, but this is an excellent substitute.
I've been using it for a couple of months now and haven't had any problems.
