This scanner does exactly what I bougt it for. It is of excellant quality, and is easy to use. I bought this scanner for the purpose of scanning pages out of law books at the library. After about two minutes' practice, it was a cinch. In fifteen minutes I was able to scan 30 pages' research.The resolution is great, and the scan quality was good enough to use in powerpoint presentations after cropping and magnifying with Microsoft Picture Manager. You can't get scans out of books with a page-fed portable, and a desktop model is too big to carry. Light years better than waiting for the library photocopier.I 'm very pleased with the results I get from this scanner with documents and images. Unless it's a big job I use it even when there's a flatbed scanner near because it's so convenient. Although the output is only in jpg format, if you have an all-one-printer you may already have software to convert it to pdf. For best results use a straight edge on the side of the document to guide the scanner so it stays perpendicular to the document. If the document has folds, put a piece of clear plastic over it like a document sleeve so the scanner doesn't snag on the fold bumps. Obviously this isn't possible with every document such as when scanning a page of a book. If you use windows and your computer won't load the scanner make sure the scanner is turned OFF before it's plugged into the usb port. Then turn it on. In other words, read the instructions. :)
