(More customer reviews)The Canon F30 is better than I expected, even after having read the favorable Consumer Reports review. What I like: printouts are crisp and clean for text, graphics and photos; photos that I've printed on photo glossy paper were indistinguishable to me from the 4"x6" photos I scanned in (600 dpi, using F30's scanning software and Microsoft PhotoDraw 2000 v1.0); 1152x864 dpi digital photos I've taken and printed as large as I can on 8.5"x11" photo glossy paper look like professional portraits to me; it prints fast, even in high quality photo mode; functions as a stand alone copier (b&w, color and photos, too); and the ink is relatively cheap. I would buy another one if I needed a second stand-alone printer/scanner (as it apparently doesn't work as a network printer). It has USB and parallel communication ports (so maybe one could connect two PCs to one F30 when using different ports?). Regarding the ink, each color is in its own reservoir and is easy to replace. The print head is replaceable should the nozzles ever become clogged. (I totaled a $50 Epson printer by using a cheap ink refill kit, as Epson ink was costing me about $15 for every 100 to 150 pages of black text.) While ... seems expensive, I estimate the F30's lifetime cost to me will be about the same to hundreds of dollars less than an HP, Epson or Lexmark printer (without scanners) when the cost of the manufacturer's ink is factored in. I like the Omnipage Pro v9 OCR software that comes with the F30. Overall the F30 is a great printer, a great scanner and a great copier for this home user.

(More customer reviews)First off, I just got this today, so I cannot comment on the long term reliability of this machine. From the initial setup and run through of its features, this is what I've come up with.
Print quality is awesome. I first copied the registration card as a test. It was amazing how it came out. I couldn't really tell which was the original and which was the copy. Even the handwritten portion was reproduced flawlessly. I then decided to make use of the 5 pack of high gloss 4x5 paper which is included so I figured I'd try it out on a very small prom picture of mine. It came out perfect. I copied it right onto the 4x5...expanding it to 176% and brightening it a little using only the settings on the 885CW itself to do so. The picture came out looking flawless. I also printed a quick word document that had similarly impressive qualities...the text was very dark as opposed to my old Lexmark AIO.
Then I scanned in the same picture and edited it with Photoshop. The picture looked very good at 900 pixels. No complaints there.
I also tried out the fax by sending in my registration form. It was a breeze and the fax preview proved very handy. You can have it scan the paper (either by feeding it like a normal fax (ADF) or the scanning glass), then preview it, mess around with a few settings and when it's all nice and pretty, off it goes...or skip the extra steps and just send it like a normal fax as most would probably do.
The cordless phone is an appreciated feature, and the speaker phone is loud and clear. Anyone who complained about the MFC-845CW's 20 second limit on incoming voice messages will be happy to know their feedback was heard by Brother. You can now select the time limit for messages, between 30 and 120 seconds.
I tried out the OCR feature which allows you to scan a document onto your computer and edit the text in a word processor. I was impressed with its ability to recognize typed documents, although anything handwritten is understandably out of the question.
Printing from a memory card is also simple. I did a real quick print and everything was good with it as well. There are some basic editing features on the machine, although I haven't really tried any of them and most likely won't in the future...as far as I'm concerned that's what Photoshop is for.
Overall layout of the Navigation screen was nice. The widescreen was very helpful and made selecting different options simple as you can fit more in at once. Easy navigation and very basic information...Setup was a breeze with my Linksys network...taking only the push of a couple buttons and it was good to go. I've got 2 computers currently sharing this printer...one is a laptop (wireless) and the other a desktop (USB). With the laptop comes my one and only complaint...read on...I'm running Windows XP Media Center Edition, Service Pack 2 on my laptop. The main program (Control Center 3) will not run on it. Whenever I try to load it, I get a terminal failure (The kind that asks to send Microsoft an error report). I did as much snooping around for a fix as I could...but didn't find anything. So I downloaded the latest set of utilities for the machine...but no help there. So this means that on my laptop right now I can still print, however I cannot receive information such as scans and such from the machine. I'm more then confident that when I get on the phone with Brother they will have a solution, or that an updated version of the program will be released fixing this. But I'll have to wait until Monday to do so.
To be fair I did purchase this fairly soon after its release so bugs are understandable. And they do not specifically mention Media Center Edition as a compatible operating system although it is implied when they say XP Home. My desktop is my powerhouse anyway so I do most of the editing on their...but still it's a frustrating problem none the less.I've been through my fair share of printers...from Lexmark to HP. This is the best I've come across. I'm a very demanding consumer, and spent hours researching before making this purchase. It was the most expensive on my list of "maybes"...but I figured I'd take a chance and I don't regret it in the least. I'll probably be using this printer for at least the better part of a decade so I decided to make it a good one. As far as the software is concerned, yes it is an inconvenience, but most likely a temporary one...I'm certain many people would have docked a point or two for that, but for me the excess of quality makes up for such a blaring issue with the software...and most likely the people reading this review will not have an issue with it because I'm sure my case is fairly isolated and isn't directly related to my Operating System, rather something else that's going on. In the future I'll install it on an identical laptop with the same operating system (we have 3 in my house) and see if the problem reoccurs.
Good luck with finding the right AIO for yourself. It would take a rare breed to find disappointment with the MFC-885CW, but everyone has different standards for their different uses. For me, this is perfect.

I also wanted a printer I could take on the road if I had to. The HP J3680 fit those requirements like no other printer I could find. On top of all that, I found a great price on Amazon.com
Caveats: I've used this only for printing black and white text.
Pros: Compact. Easy setup (Mac). Built in phone. Ink available everywhere. Takes up very little space on desk. The copier has many features to customize your job. The menu prompts are easy to follow. The phone (yes, even a phone!) has good sound.
Cons: Printing not the fastest, but the quality is exceptional. Cartridges are a bit finicky when being changed, but you'll get the hang of it once you've done it.
Bottom Line: I'd buy it again. Very nice for the start-up small business or general home use.

Lexmark X75 Multifunction Printer Review

(More customer reviews)I purchased this printer a few months ago not because my previous printer had failed but because I simply couldn't use my scanner and printer at the same time. This printer had just been released and there was little information but I took a chance and have been incredibly happy with it since.
Most of the complaints I see here seem to be a problem of unrealistic expectations. This unit is NOT a fax machine. You can scan something into your computer and fax it using a modem but that's another story. This unit is NOT a laser printer nor is it a high end photo printer. It is also NOT a stand alone copying machine. It is printer that scans and copies.
I found the installation to be simple - follow the instructions that come with it and you'll be fine - be careful aligning the print cartridges (its easy but just don't blow it off) and the print quality will be significantly better. I installed the software and was a little worried when I went to print the first time and the familiar print setup page was replaced with a huge assortment of options. My worry was quickly replaced with excitement - you can store your printing preferences! If you are like me you don't need to print every webpage in beautiful color, its a waste of time and ink, so I have a setting for Black & White Draft, works like a charm.
Now I must admit that the black and white printing is not any better than my old Lexmark - inkjets are inkjets. The color and picture quality though is significantly better. Using the best printing option on photo paper it was hard to tell it came from an inkjet. I have found the photocopying and scanning to be nice and clear as well.
Overall I'm very pleased with this space saving printer.

Epson Stylus Photo 580 All In One Inkjet Printer Review

(More customer reviews)I've owned 4 or 5 other Epson printers (as well as several from HP) in the past, but the Stylus Photo RX580 all-in-one is the easiest to use printer I've ever had, with excellent picture quality and a very good built-in scanner as well. Combine that with the fact that it is the least expensive of the printers I have bought and you'll see why I consider this a bargain.
Let me start with the scanner -- it is quiet and fairly fast. The supplied TWAIN compatible software has three levels: fully automatic, "home" use, and professional. It works well. The resolution is fine for home use, although it is not a scanner for film or slides. The scanner integrates with the printer allowing use as a stand-alone copier. It can also copy photos directly to the face of an (inkjet printable) CD or DVD. And there are some interesting surprises -- you can print an index of a memory card -- then fill in a few choices (with a black pencil or pen -- like a test answer sheet) and scan the index sheet and the printer will print photos from the memory card, only the photos you choose on the index sheet, sized and borders as you selected. Very cool -- and easy to use. The scanner also allows you to directly prepare greeting cards without the computer.
The print quality is quite good. The Claria inks are dye-based inks (NOT pigment, as incorrectly stated in other reviews) giving them bright colors, and able to print on many surfaces. This is one of Epson's "Hi-Definition" printers -- which means tiny droplets and great pictures. The inks are separately replaceable, and available in two sizes (regular and high capacity -- from Epson direct -- 50% more ink for only $5 more). The printer works best with Epson papers, and can print on virtually any stock Epson sells. It also creates excellent prints directly on printable CDs and DVDs -- the results can look very good, and are much better than add -on labels.
The 2.5" built in color LCD is very useful -- it allows meaningful dialogues with the printer as well as previews of images from memory cards, etc.
The printer is fully Mac compatible (as well as PC) and includes some useful software, including a CD/DVD print layout program.
What does it lack? Well, an USB cable -- but, unfortunately, most prints ship without a cable. It doesn't do paper sizes bigger than 8.5" wide, and its not aimed at professional photographers (who want larger images, higher resolution scanners, and more permanent pigment inks), but for home/office use it works quite well.
All in all an excellent all-in-one at a reasonable price. I'm very happy with it.

Epson Stylus R320 Photo Inkjet Printer Review

My wife wanted a printer to print occasional text and some photos. I was under the assumtion that you either want to print photos period or text period and if you want to print text then you're better off with a laser printer and if you want to print photos then get a good dedicated photo printer.
My wifes camera is a small digital. She's been printing pictures from her mothers printer which are painfully pixelated. I didn't want to get something that poor, I insisted on something somewhat better. I thought I'd have to spend $500+ which you can, but she insisted she didn't want something that expensive for scrapbooking. I saw this for $200 and bit my lip. The printers I use at work cost thousands. I thought this would be painfully slow, cheap, marginal quality.
This printer prints amazingly well. It's considered on the high end for a photo printing ink jet. The 8 colors would be better but I've found the quality is as good as a 1-hour lab. That's a lot or a little depending on your expectations. But for $200 I think it's a very good deal.
If you want to print simple text, for reference and not graphics it prints pretty well and faster than I thought.
It seems substantial and well constructed. It has features I didn't realize they put into $200 printers.
This model, the 320 has a little flip up screen for viewing your images if you want to print directly from a memor card. the 300 doesn't and this was $20 more. My wife likes that option. I prefer retouching and printing from the computer.
I knew that I wanted separate ink cartridges for each color. This printer uses 6 colors and 6 separate ink cartridges. Some printer using 6 colors use only 2 cartidges with 3 colors each. The trouble with that is if you run out of 1 color and the others are half full, you'd be wasting money having to replace 3 colors when there's still ink left in the others.
You can even print wireless if your printer supports Bluetooth technology. $69 will get you the adapter for the printer.
If you're planning to print postscript files from a postscript drawing program then you need a postscript compatible laser printer or perhaps you could use this type of printer with a postscript emulation software. I haven't looked into that yet. Don't even ask anyone at Circuit City or similar retail outlets since they don't know what "postscript" means.
Overall I am very very happy with this printer.

Epson Stylus Photo RX700 Photo Printer Review

(More customer reviews)I needed to reduce the clutter/items in my bedroom (scanner, printer, fax), so I needed to get an all in one. I've had this baby for about 2 weeks now, and it is awesome. I've already gone through one set of ink cartridges testing all its features. I considered getting the AIO hp 7310 but decided the direct cd/dvd printing from this Epson was a must have. I'll just keep my original fax machine. My fil and I are always in competition for the latest gadgets and when I printed photos for him...he was amazed!! He owns a Sony 4x6 thermal dye printer and it was not even close to the way my Epson printed photos. He brought over 3 boxes of slides and I cannot believe the resolution for scanning slides. Unbelievable. When scanned using the restore faded slide/negatives feature, the output was incredible. It looks like I shot thes pictures yesterday, the colors are so vibrant. The preview screen is a great feature and beautiful. I rarely hook it up to my laptop, so it was great to see previews prior to printing. The Epson glossy photo paper works the best for photos. I've tried Kodak and HP papers and there is no comparison to the output on the Epson paper. Equivalent to a photo lab. For CD/DVD printing, I've used the Verbatim brand. They have less coasters and they look beautiful. My only peeve would be the cost of and finding replacement ink. It cost anywhere between $75-80 to replace all cartridges, 6 individual ink cartridges (so you only replace the color that runs out). If you are using this mainly for printing photos, then I would suggest getting a dedicated 4x6 printer. It's not cost effective to print on this one. But if you are looking for a great all around printer....then this is the one you want.

(More customer reviews)After looking through reviews and googling 'best all in one', I rarely saw Brother mentioned. It was either Canon, HP or Epson. So I first purchased the Epson Aristan 800. The first unit was defective with an error loop, so I replaced it with another. It's a nice printer overall with the added bonus of touchscreen, but the fax functions were poor, the paper tray was flimsy and it was a bit too large for where I wanted to put it.
So I returned it, walked around the printer isles for an hour and came upon the Brother MFC-790cw. It had wifi, touchscreen, a phone, a real dial pad, a smaller footprint and a much cheaper price.
So after using it for a week, i'm really happy with the purchase. The wifi software was very easy to setup, and I had no problem installing it in Windows beta 7 unlike the Epson Artisan 800. Receiving and sending faxes is easy as pie. Normal and glossy photo print qualities are very good. And the unit overall looks solidly built.
The only two drawbacks I found was the above normal noise and the below normal print speed. But i'm not running a business with the need to print volumes of documents in a short time, so it's not really much of a concern.
This is an excellent AIO for personal use at a great price.

Canon PIXMA MP150 Photo All In One Printer Review

(More customer reviews)This printer is a question of value. Clearly, there are higher quality printers even from Canon. Likewise, there are printers that are less expensive. What I am most interested in knowing about when shopping for something is the relative value of the item. In that way, the MP150 should receive 5 stars. It is an extremely good value for what it is: a quality, at-home moderate use printer.
Printing quality is fast and of high quality. Borderless 4x6 photos are what I would call very good (I have not yet printed larger). I have seen better photos, but not at this price point. You will be very happy with the occasional or semi-frequent picture you print off for friends, family, or yourself. Pictures seem a little skewed to the beige, but I don't notice any grain or lines. It will not quite replace a photo studio or online provider, but with the low cost of printing digital pictures at your local drug store, 90% of us should not be overly concerned with very, very high quality, at home printing. The Pict Bridge is nice and Canon claims pictures will not fade for 100 years if stored in proper albums.
Normal document printing is good too. Not quite laser, but anyone who need regular business printing should invest in at least a low cost laser. No ink based printer will do what you need if you have a business office in your home.
Scanning is very good and easy. Their software allows for all sorts of imports and scanning, while not lightning fast, is quite good. Copying is a breeze: place your document on the glass (and with an auto-adjusting top, you can easily copy books up to 1-2 inches thick), hit the black or color button, and you're done. No need to have the computer on.
The paper tray leaves a little to be desired, but not too much. It's a bit flimsy and doesn't give you a great deal of confidence that it will pull paper correctly, although it has so far for me. I like the non-turning path the paper takes. Paper goes in the top and comes out straight from the front. This makes labels easier and more successful. The printer seems very good at pulling your paper media quite well without the stutter or mistakes of some HP printers.
Canon offers four ink cartridges for this printer: PG 40 (black) and PG 50 (black high capacity) as well as CL41 (color) and CL51 (color high capacity). Some have said that it won't accept the high cap cartridges. I haven't tried yet.
As for what I would have liked to see, the printer, while somewhat fast, can take forever to start printing. It almost always takes enough time for me to think the printer is not going to print. When I then go to remove the paper and try again, it starts up just before I get there like it was waiting for me to make the first move!
The tray is rated to hold 100 pieces of paper. No way. More like 50 if you're lucky. Ink is high quality and the heads are part of the cartridge, but ink use is higher than average. Normal cartridges are rates for around 200 pages and, because there are not multiple color cartridges, if you run out of one color, you run out of everything.
Finally, when compared to its competitor (HP1401), it is both more expensive and bigger. However, I would take the MP150 over the HP (and since I have both, I should know).

The print quality is about as good as my expensive HP printer and HP ink is more expensive and takes two.

...BAD idea!!
I blew through the first set of cartridges in just three weeks...and maybe 100-150 pages! NOT PHOTOS, regular pages! (well, maybe THREE photos in the mix!)
I thought perhaps the cartridges that came with the machines were "samples"....ie, not full capcity, but it says right on the cartidge "standard yield"!!
So I fished another set of cartridges out of one of the other printer boxes...same thing!
The thing is, the PRINTER, aka "Hal", tells you when you are out of ink...Thank you Hal!Copy quality was just fine in both cases, but it wouldn't allow any further printing until I put new cartridges.
And get this...I can't just keep it to use the scanner!!! Without with out cartridges it deems as "ok", "Hal" won't even let me do THAT!
--PLEEEEASE Open the pod bay doors, HAL.
--I'm sorry, Kathy. I'm afraid I can't do that. ...It kills me to send this to the landfill...and shame on Dell for making it fit for nothing else!

HP PhotoSmart 8150 Inkjet Printer Review

(More customer reviews)We bought this after a big trip to the UK and Europe to print out my digital pics for my still analog mother. Needless to say, she wants a digital camera very badly for Christmas now.
Its so easy to just pull your memory card from your camera, plug it into the printer and be able to zoom, crop and do basic editing (color balance, etc) right on the printer. We aren't even going to hook it up to a computer, becuase if you're just using it for pictures theres almost no need.
I looked at the 8450 with networking and 8 print nozzles, but didn't think it was worth $80 more. Like I said, we arent even hooking it to a printer, let alone our network, and frankly I do not know how noticeable 2 more print nozzles are going to be when the pictures look this spectacular in the first place.
Print speed is surprisingly fast, as I've been seeing 30seconds for a borderless 4x6.
I definitely recommend it

(More customer reviews)This printer produces drop dead gorgeous photos when using HP Premium Photo paper. They are practically dripping with glossy eye popping color! Text is also sharp and crisp. Normal copier paper is passable, but buying the special HP paper really makes a noticable improvement. (personal plug: you can buy paper and inkjet from HP's website with free overnight shipping with no minimum purchase!)
The touch screen makes printing from memory cards very easy. It also reduces the number of buttons on the printer itself -- which accounts for its sleek Mac-inspired styling. The printer can also fix exposure and red eye right in the printer! No need to connect it to your computer. In fact, I find myself copying photos from iPhoto to my memory card and then printing directly from the card (it seems easier than going through all the options in the print dialogue box). You can even print photos directly from your iPod with your USB dock cable! (Now, if I only had an iPod!)
The D7360 also uses HP's new inexpensive 6 color "02" inks -- which means you only need to replace the inks you use, and they won't cost a fortune. It's a fast printer -- but I take points off because the printer really shimmy and shakes your desk when it's printing -- like a little earthquake! Also paper handling is a mixed bag. There is a nice built-in tray for 4x6 photo paper as well as one for everyday 8.5x11 paper. Unfortunately, the paper trays do not fold up when not in use. And it's a bit of a hassle to remove paper when you just want to print one envelope or 5x7 photos. Lastly, the printer itself is rather large considering HP's all-in-ones add a scanner but are the same size.

HP Photosmart 8250 Printer (Q3470A#ABA) Review

(More customer reviews)This is an excellent printer for the serious photographer. The images are clear, sharp, and crisp, and professional in every way, at least to my amateur eye. I am a picky amateur photographer, and I bought this printer so that I could easily print 8x10, 5x7, and 4x6 photos from my several digital cameras. This printer does the job. This is a beautifully engineered and solid piece of equipment.
Some technical issues. Beware, when the ink first prints, it smears easily, so let it dry for a few minutes--it dries quickly enough. I am happy to say that the photo download from the card reader slot (I measured it on the CF card reader--I haven't tried it for my SD cards yet) is lightning fast, as compared to my older HP printers, I guess that is the USB 2.0 that this device features. This is a welcome improvement--earlier HP printers lagged behind even cheap card readers in speed. No more.
So far my print feeds have been flawless and jam-free. You can effortlessly switch between 4x6 and 8x10 prints, and the feeds are fine. (Haven't tried 5x7s yet, but I expect no problems.) When you first take the printer out of the box it will prompt you to put paper in the printer and let it test the ink cartridges. Beware--you need to install them first. This only takes a second, and these are the most foolproof printer cartridges I have ever seen, but the printer does not tell you that the cartridges are not yet installed, at least not until you try to run the diagnostic. No big deal; I installed them, and the printer calibrated itself perfectly!
The printer installed perfectly and effortlessly the very first time. Simply insert the supplied CD and follow the instructions. Remember not to insert the (not supplied!) USB2 cable into the computer until the software prompts you to do so.
It appears to me that some of the other reviewers (here on Amazon) of this printer made the same initial mistake I made. Specifically, here is the deal: this printer can detect what kind of paper you are feeding it (if it is HP paper anyway)--it detects it from a code on the back of the paper and it adjusts the ink application accordingly. Further, this printer is very precise as to how it applies ink to a given paper type. So if you try to manually tell it what kind of paper you are using, and if you guess wrong, you will get lousy pictures with the ink incorrectly applied. Once I figured out the rather amazing fact that this printer KNOWS what kind of paper it is printing on, I started getting wonderful pictures. (It literally never occurred to me that it could do this--I had to, you guessed it, read the manual to find this out). This is cool--you can insert different kinds of HP photo paper in the same stack, e.g. matte, glossy, etc. and expect to get perfect pictures without having to look in the printer to see what paper is next. Just tell it on the print menu to automatically select the paper type. I love the 21st century!
Personally, I think that HP has hit a home run with this one. While I cannot compare this one to its rivals from Epson or Canon (I have not reviewed these), I can say that I am completely satisfied. Recommended.

The Bad:
Aside from a slightly cheap asthetic feel, I can't find a thing. And for such a low price, it's to be expected. Other manufactures might have shnazzier printers at the same price point, but keep in mind most other manufacturers don't sell printers, they sell ink, so you pay for it in the long run.
Overall I am extremely satisfied with this printer. Coming from an IP4000, I had high expectations, and this did not dissapoint. I have owned every major brand of printers (HP, Epson), and Canon is absolutely where it's at. Cartridges are much more affordable, you aren't forced to install 400mb of junk that loads 5 processes at windows startup (HP), and the attention to detail is great (i.e., you can program the printer to shutoff after X minutes of being idle). Do yourself a favor and buy a Canon.

Canon MultiPASS F50 Flatbed Multifunction Review

I was considering some other flatbed all-in-one's from HP, Brother, Lexmark, etc, and am using this to replace separate older HP all-in-one and Canon scanner units. Some reasons I chose this unit include combination of ability to copy 8x14 legal (auto-doc feeder only), individual color cartridges (cheaper and environmentally more friendly), high speed color fax w/270pg memory, 2400x1200 color print resolution (useful for digital photos), 30pg auto-doc feeder, direct hi-res color copies (1200x1200), 25-400% copy enlarge/reduce, and print speed.
Setup was easy - quite a few steps to unwrap packing tapes and other setup, but fairly dummy-proof both hardware and software. Performance is excellent in many ways for basic printing, copying, scanning and fax. In the 1200dpi direct color copying mode, even does a respectable job copying direct to glossy photo paper. Doc feeder is smooth, no jams so far. Note that 8x14 legal scans work fine, but are through the doc feeder only, which runs them through a small separate 1"-wide scan area - the plate glass accepts up to letter and A4 sizes (the doc is wrong on this suggesting 8x14 glass copies, but a note on the canon web site corrects this). The unit is a good healthy size, but not overly huge. It vibrates back and forth a bit during inkjet printing sweeps, but a good solid base will help. There is also a plastic cover over the paper tray, a nice touch to keep dirt/dust off the paper supply.
On the down side, the docs are well written for basic functions, but very poor for most advanced features. Many technical terms are not defined (eg: most fax tx/rcv settings) or not documented beyond just mentioning them by name. There is no single section or roadmap for all of the on-printer menus and most menu settings are not in the index either, so you have to jump around the pages by eye. The color/quality/paper settings in the print setup, while flexible, have little documentation in terms of what they really do (eg: difference between photo/glossyphoto/photofilm paper type settings). I'm still working on trying to compensate a bit for correct skin tones from my Fuji digital camera, which tends to favor red more than I'd like - although shots from another digital camera came out fine. Another nit: the max scan resolution I've seen is 600x600, so I'm not sure where the claimed 600x1200 settings come from. Finally, 17c/12b ppm copying and printing speeds are not what I'm seeing for highest resolution settings, these numbers must be for either lowest resolution, or multiple page copy speeds.
All that aside, I'm very happy with the unit, it copies and prints great high-resolution pictures in reasonable speeds, and is nicely priced.

Hewlett Packard K60 OfficeJet Review

(More customer reviews)The K60 is a great machine in many ways but, and this is a big BUT... HP purposely left out a very important feature that the machine is entirely capable of. Black and White copying! That's right... if you put in ANYTHING with color on it and press copy, you will get a much more expensive and slower color copy. This works out great for HP because it uses lot's more of their expensive color ink, but not for the user. Try copying a sheet of yellow note paper with a few handwritten notes and prepare for a rather slow copy that uses a lot of the yellow ink in your color cartridge!
This is completely inexcusable considering the less expensive T45 does both color and B&W copies. It has a B&W copy button and a color copy button. You wouldn't think that moving up to one of HP's more expensive multifunction models would mean the loss of an important feature would you?
If you're going to be doing a lot of copying, think twice about this machine. Of course, the K80 has the same B&W Copy button that the T45 does, but do you really want to spend another $100 for a feature that any reasonable person would assume should already be in the K60? In case you're wondering, there is no menu option to enable B&W copying in the K60, it just isn't there. I have verified this with HP's tech support who find this missing feature equally baffling.
For this reason, I can't give it more than a three. I'd give it a 2.5 if I could.
