I could go into great detail but it wouldn't matter. This is the worst printer I have ever owned or used. The print quality was poor from the beginning. You notice I said "was"... that's because the color stopped printing altogether after a short time. I replaced the ink and still no color printing. The HP customer service is non existent. DO NOT buy this printer.

Picked up this printer at the local Staples for $[...] new sealed box. The ink and print heads themselves are worth $100+. Integrated this printer into my home network. Had an issue with finding the printer on the network and accessing the directjet web page by default. Hard coded the printer IP on printer and on router and BAM all works like a charm. Hey,for $[...]bucks, once the ink runs out I can sell it or just dump it. It's not like I don't already have another printer.

HP Officejet 7110 All-in-One Multifunction Review

HP Officejet 7110 All-in-One Multifunction
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this machine in August along with an overnight replacement warranty (thank goodness). Since August I have had 3 different machines. Each one malfunctioned. (1) The automatic feeder did not work properly and the paper jammed. HP replaced the machine. (2) The print head connection was not making contact and the machine would not detect the print cartridges. HP replaced that machine. (3) It would only print in red and blue because the print cartridges were improperly distribting the ink. In addition, each time I replaced the machine I had to uninstall and reinstall the software, which should not have been necessary. Not to mention the hours spent on the phone with HP service and my IT person trying to get the machines to function properly. In one week I had two replacements. It is also noisy and slow. I begged my salesperson to take it back, which he did and I was happy to see it go.

Hewlett Packard OfficeJet 630 Multifunction Device Review

Hewlett Packard OfficeJet 630 Multifunction Device
Average Reviews:

I recently puchased and installed the HP 630 multi-function unit in my home office. The set-up went fine--with all set-up prompts clear and straight forward. However, I did have significant difficulty loading paper for the first time. The guides on the back are very tight and at first would not allow letter size paper to fit. It took about 10 minutes to figure out how to load paper by squeezing the guides to open them up which surprised me a little. The unit works great now though--I have printed checks from Quicken and other routine stuff without a hitch. One key thing: once you have it set up be sure to call the HP 800 number and they will send you a test fax right away--a great feature. All in all--looks like it will be a terrific machine for the price.

HP C3150 Photosmart C3150 All In One Review

HP C3150 Photosmart C3150 All In One
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
After owning a seperate scanner and printer for awhile, I bought this combined unit to save some desk space. The price seemed right, and I didn't need the extra fancy features of the more expensive units, such as the LCD screen etc.
To me, HP should have removed the memory card slots and put more engineering into the paper feed tray. My unit has worked flawlessly for about a year (or maybe less). I was very excited about the copy feature and scanner as it worked so well.
But now as I sit, the paper tray will not feed paper. One sheet, multiple sheets, the tray will not grab the paper. I suspect to fix this unit, it will cost more than what I paid for it originally. The scanner still works wonderfully.
If you search online, there are some other people that have experienced this same thing. I haven't even burned thru the original ink cartridges yet. Very disappointing.

HP Deskjet 9800 Wide Format Color Printer (C8165A#A2L) Review

HP Deskjet 9800 Wide Format Color Printer (C8165A#A2L)
Average Reviews:

Bought this for the wife to do some scrapbooking. Thought for sure the other reviewers must have been doing something wrong. Nope. This thing has a mind of it's own...especially if you try to print anything larger than 8 1/2 X 11. HP has not perfected home user wide format printers yet.

I returned it for the Canon i9900 wide format printer which, granted, was $100 more but the quality is simply amazing. 91 positive reviews can't be wrong. I was so impressed with the Canon quality that I scooped up a PIXMA 780 All-In-One for myself. Also a tremnedous number of positve reviews there as well. Much cheaper ink, better quality - how did I miss these the first time. Live and learn from my experiences.

HP PhotoSmart 8150 Inkjet Printer Review

HP PhotoSmart 8150 Inkjet Printer
Average Reviews:

We bought this after a big trip to the UK and Europe to print out my digital pics for my still analog mother. Needless to say, she wants a digital camera very badly for Christmas now.
Its so easy to just pull your memory card from your camera, plug it into the printer and be able to zoom, crop and do basic editing (color balance, etc) right on the printer. We aren't even going to hook it up to a computer, becuase if you're just using it for pictures theres almost no need.
I looked at the 8450 with networking and 8 print nozzles, but didn't think it was worth $80 more. Like I said, we arent even hooking it to a printer, let alone our network, and frankly I do not know how noticeable 2 more print nozzles are going to be when the pictures look this spectacular in the first place.
Print speed is surprisingly fast, as I've been seeing 30seconds for a borderless 4x6.
I definitely recommend it

This printer installed easily and functions nicely in every way. My only complaint is that the ink cartridges, while very inexpensive, contain very little ink. If you're doing occasional printing, scanning or copying this is a great printer. If you expect to print more than 1000 pages per month, be prepared to change the cartridge as often as your undies.
Did I mention that its a fine printer?

HP PSC 1210 Multifunction Review

HP PSC 1210 Multifunction
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Okay, so this is HP's newest all-in-one.
As expected of these All-in-one's not all features are equally good, so I'll review each of them separately.
Printer: A+
This is real Photo-printer. I printed 3 4"x6" photos captured by my digital camera at 1600x1200 resolution, on the FREE sample Premium Plus Photo Glossy provided. Result? Absolute TOP notch. There's simply no way anyone can tell that the photos were not developed at a Kodak studio.
Copier: A-
You can use the copier without having to turn on your computer. I copied a color photo (of a face) in black and white mode, and it looked pretty decent. Document copy was excellent. Copying great photos (sunset) is not so good because of the scanner... see next item.
Scanner: B-
I tried scanning a stunning sunset photo taken from my SLR film camera. The result was disappointing. There are noticeable scan lines in the scanned image. It looked bad when "Set as desktop background". Didnt even try printing it. Text scanning was ok though...
Package: A-
Contents include: Printer, Power-cord, Free Glossy paper samples, good imaging software. All you need after getting your printer is a USB cable (why can't they bundle it??). I picked up a $7 USB2 6ft cable at local [store].
Overall Verdict: A
For the price, it beats HP's own photo printers hands down. (and they don't even copy/scan). So if you need a photo printer, with a decent copier and ok scanner, PSC1210 is the way to go. Not to mention that its the smallest All-in-one available. However, if you're looking to scan top-notch images to burn on a CD, invest in a standalone scanner. My friend has a epson perfection which scanned the sunset shot just fine.

One of the world's smallest flatbed all-in-one multifunction devices, the HP PSC 1210 prints, copies, and scans with a modest 16.8-by-10.2-inch footprint. With this one-stop imaging center, you receive true-to-life photo-quality results with up to 4,800 optimized dpi resolution (with premium photo paper and 1,200 x 1,200 dpi input). Printing and copying speeds are plenty fast for home users, coming in at 12 pages per minute maximum in black and up to 10 ppm in color. With the 1210, home copying becomes exceptionally convenient, even without a PC. You'll enjoy simple one-button operation and easy enlargements.
The flatbed scanner lets you easily scan family photos, important documents, or even books or other 3-D objects. Use the included HP photo and imaging software to get creative with your scanned images--print photos, stickers, iron-on T-shirt transfers, and unique scrapbook pages.
HP provides an instant setup reference guide that will have you up and running in just a few minutes. Note that the printer is PC and Mac compatible; only Mac versions OS 9.1, OS X v 10.1.x and 10.2.3 or higher are supported. A one-year warranty provides protection on parts and labor.

HP Photosmart 2710 All-in-One Printer Review

HP Photosmart 2710 All-in-One Printer
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I was leery of buying HP because in the past they just haven't seemed to have it together as much as Canon and others. But, I was so impressed by the features of this HP 2710, and I couldn't find anything just like it by Canon, so I bought this. The good news is, the hardware part of this works like a dream and is very impressive. The bad news is, the software package that goes with this is a mess and IS bloated. I have WIN ME, and what a disaster...the HP software installation blew up the first time I tried to install it and gave me registry errors. I have installed and uninstalled the software probably 15 times. About half the time you try to install, it blows up without totally installing. Leaving you to once again uninstall and install. And the fix to everything according to HP is to uninstall and install again, which takes about an hour round trip. I never did get the software to totally work with an ethernet (no scanning or file transfer capability), so I ditched that and did USB. After several uninstalls and installs again (which finally corrupted explorer.exe and I had to reload WIN ME), I still cannot scan and HP DIRECTOR is giving me script errors (and no - not any script errors listed on HP support - and I already did what they said to do to fix script errors). DIRECTOR runs the whole show and without it I am without useful ways to use and change parameters on my printer. I'll give really, really high marks to HP support, they were easy to get ahold of and they will sit on the phone for hours with you trying to fix things, but it doesn't do much good, because they cannot fix these problems at this time. I would think long and hard before buying until they update the software, unless you want to spend HOURS working on it and be left with a partially working application. Especially around Christmas...
12/06/04 - I want to add that I did a lot of research on this software installation problem, and at this time it boils down to this: It will either install with very few hitches and run flawlessly, or you will have several problems with installation and be left with an AIO system that doesn't totally work. For example, I cannot scan or change any of my scan resolution settings (or use anything with HP DIRECTOR - not because all the icons are missing - but because of script errors), or use the one button scan or file transfer features of the hardware because it doesn't recognize my computer. And mind you, this is with an installation that at the end said it installed successfully (it went through fax set-up, registration, and everything). I have seen posts of problems very similiar to mine in Windows XP (even SP2 - one guy had one computer it would work on, and one it would not) so it doesn't appear to matter if you have ME or XP. And nobody, including TECH support, seems to have a reason for the problems or a fix for this at this time. The software version I have is 4.2.0 (Photosmart 2600/2700 series) for WIN 98, ME, 2000, and XP. Again, if you want everything to work correctly, I would check the HP web site and make sure they upgraded this software or they have a fix for the problems I described (which they do not at this time) before buying, otherwise from my experience and research, you are playing Russian Roulette as to whether the software installs correctly on your system.
12/07/04 - AND...one more follow up and then I'm done...do yourself a favor and read ALL the reviews for the HP 7410 (which should be using the same software), or the HP PSC 2410, which is a forerunner to the 2710...you'll find plenty of references to the "bloated software" and installation problems. In fact the more I read reviews about all-in-ones in general, the more I read about problems and the "bloated" HP software. My favorite line was "it infects your registry like cancer". Boy, that is the truth, you can see that when installing. I swear it makes 300-400 registry entries. The software is way too complicated and puts junk everywhere in your system. That's why it gets into trouble. I have changed my chipset driver, downloaded VBSCRIPT 5.6 (even though I think I had it already), downloaded WIN Installer 2.0 and MDACS 2.8 (even though both I think come on the software disk), done this and that, and I am completely convinced I am never going to get the software to run right unless by great fortune they update the software and do it right. I've spent a whole weekend and several nights on this, and it's crazy, just to install a printer. And I'm not an idiot, I'm in IT. If you don't need fax, and can hook up USB, I'd look at the EPSON RX600. From reviews their software is simple and excellent. I know this HP 2710 has on paper a lot of cool features, but the other guys will match those soon. HP has proven both to me and via reviews on forerunner products that they write really terrible software. If you buy, I hope you're one of the lucky ones it works for, but if not, don't say you weren't warned...

X2650 Color Printer 3-IN-1 Review

X2650 Color Printer 3-IN-1
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is a decent enough printer. Performance is good, the ink seems to last a reasonable time but the cartridges are fairly expensive. Scanning is good. Software is frankly an annoyance.
However, don't buy if you're looking to refill cartridges like I was. They are protected. Not all manufacturers do this but most do just now. My situation was worse because no matter what I tried, I couldn't get the printer to print only in black and white even after Googling the issue a whole day, so the colour ended up running out even without my wanting to print in colour. From what I've heard about Lexmark, ink is their business and this would explain why the printer was so cheap and why they have built the printer in such a way.
For your average user, I give it 3 stars as perhaps a moderate user would be happy paying for the ink. Myself, as a programmer and systems developer who bought this printer in a hurry upon arriving in a new country, I need to print rather more and it has been a waste of my money and frustrated me for two whole days. I have bought a few Lexmarks in the past but after this experience, I doubt I'll try them again.

Having installed 2 of these printers, I STRONGLY encourage you to go to the HP support site and download the latest printer software from www.hp.com/support. The CD's that came with the printers I installed simply didn't work on OS 10.3.9 and was not the latest software for OS 10.4 or 10.5. Using the CD's is frustratingly long and in the end, pointless. Unfortunately, you'll need broadband Internet because the software is over 180MB.
Also for those connecting the printer to the USB port of their Airport, I quote from the HP Support site:
"In general, HP printers that support networking and/or optional JetDirect print servers should print when connected to the USB port of a wireless router, such as the Apple Airport Express and Extreme Base Stations.
NOTE:Connecting to the USB port of a wireless router will provide a `print-only' function, meaning additional functions of your product, such as scanning or card slots, will not be available."
I was disappointed that my scanner didn't work when using the Airport hub. I still think the printer is a good value for the under $90 I paid on Amazon but the software that comes with it is frustrating difficult if you start with the CD's. I give HP zero stars for software installation, 3 stars for some of the software applications they give you and 5 stars for hardware and value; so 3 stars overall.

This is a shared printer we've had in our office for over a year. It's been a reliable machine with adequate functionality, but occasionally had problems with the printer "grabbing" paper when trying to print. More recently, we started getting phantom "Paper Jam" issues. After some research it appears to be a common problem with this model.
See this link on HP's forum for the problem:[...]
Without going into technical jargon, it's a troubling issue that renders the machine useless. Just know that it's a mechanical issue, where a cheap plastic gear assembly fails. It's not a serviceable part, so once it breaks, the printer is dead. There's no point in buying this model, unless you buy an extended warranty, which in all honesty is pointless since it will break eventually. I wouldn't buy this printer again and would be careful about buying any HP printers in the future without doing some serious research.

I received a HP photosmart c8180 all-in-one printer as a Christmas present in December 2008. It will be the last HP product I, or any member of my family ever buy, and here is why.
Within three months of the end of it's warranty, it began behaving erratically and within a week, no longer would function. The HP on-line support center advised me as to how to reset it, but when that failed, their subsequent response was to offer me only a $50 rebate on a new printer.... HP offers no repair service. Trying to protect the ~$100 invested in spare ink cartridges and HP photopaper, I took it to Best Buy (where it had been purchased for ~$350) to seek diagnosis and repair. They informed me it was one of the few HP products their service center would not even accept to evaluate for repairs!! I then took it to a local independent computer repair business and paid them $30 to evaluate the problem. They found that the mother board had been damaged where the power adapter plugs directly into it, projecting out about an inch beyond the back of the unit. Such a vulnerable, obvious design/engineering flaw is inexcusable, not to mention the absence of meaningful product support. This experience destroyed my confidence in the quality of HP products. I replaced it with a Canon MP 990, receiving a $100 rebate.

My "real" rating would probably be 4.5 stars out of 5, but since I can't do that, I'll round up.
When my old printer died, I decided to look into an all-in-one since my scanner was getting up there in age and I had begun to notice how convenient having a fax machine in the house would be. I also wanted built-in two-sided printing (since I'd been spoiled with that feature on my last printer), and good print quality (especially photos). I also thought it would be nice to have each color in separate ink tanks so I wouldn't have to replace anything more than what I had used. With this printer I got everything I wanted except for the separate ink tanks.
I've been very impressed with the scan quality and copy quality. I have sent and received faxes with absolutely no problems. I've printed pages of great looking sharp text and impressive looking photos just using the default black and tri-color cartridges (i.e., without putting in the optional photo cartridge). The color LCD and the menu system it uses is great and easy to navigate.
If you're trying to decide between this printer and the 7410, I did some research and emailed HP to confirm what exactly the differences are. The only differences are:
1) The 7410 comes with the extra 250-sheet tray that attaches to the bottom of the printer and adds an extra inch or two to the total height of the printer.
2) On the machine itself, the 7410 has a 'collate' button and an option to collate within the 'copy' menu. HP also calls this 'reverse order printing' and they say it can be activated on the 7310 through the driver (although I have not done it). The same button on the 7310 is 'Lighter/Darker' and the 'collate' option is not in the copy menu.
3) While both printers have built in networking, only the 7410 has built-in wireless networking. This was not an issue for me since I already have a wireless router and I just ran an ethernet cable from my router to the printer. Now any computer that connects to the wireless router is able to print to the printer without having to go through another computer. The printer is basically its own device on the network and relies on nothing other than its network connection (i.e., no usb cables connected). If I had the 7410, the only difference is that I wouldn't have the ethernet cable coming from the router, but the functionality is the same.
I had no problems actually installing the software on any of our computers and have no problems using or accessing the printer from any computer on the network ("accessing" includes accessing any flash card in the media slots). There was a little complication with the software upsetting XP's Data Execution Prevention (DEP), but there is an update on HP's website that took care of that pretty easily.
My complaints:
- If you don't pull out the tray extender, anything you print will fall on the floor. This is kind of annoying if I'm printing from my laptop downstairs, go up to retrieve my print job, and find it all over the floor. Simple solution: If you just leave it pulled out (but not 'flipped' all the way out) it will still catch pretty much everything without having to deal with the thing jutting too far into space.
- As I mentioned before, I wish HP's ink cartridge system was different so that each ink color had its own cartridge that could be replaced as the individual color ran out. On a related note, I wish I could leave the photo cartridge in without having to swap out the black cartridge.
This is a great printer that is the first all-in-one that I have used that could perform all of its many functions really well. It is a little on the expensive side, but you get what you pay for. I have never regretted buying this printer.
