The audio mode is terrible because it detects all the airwaves around without targeting the device. The white noise function is completly useless I did hundred of test with my iphone and blackberry, then with a digital recorder and it did not block the recording. Be careful DO NOT BUY THIS PIECE OF JUNK.

Logitech io Personal Digital Pen Review

(More customer reviews)...The box ships with version 1.1 software, but Logitech released version 2 in early September 2003. Learned that via researching the product a few weeks ago. The newer software (d/l from Logitech) bundles an integrated (fully featured 30-day trial version) of a (MyScripts-based) handwriting recognition engine. That's for the entire page, folks, not just the little blocks at the bottom, as was the case previously. It ain't perfect, but neither is my chicken scratch. The box includes a 20% off coupon if you register at Logitech. Apply that to purchasing Logitech's version of MyScripts, ...
Most importantly, you can take your notes, drop the pen in its well-like cradle, and configure the "Desktop manager" to take one of several automated actions. I chose to convert the pen notes to text, and save as RTF. ... But you could save as a standard MS Word .doc file instead if desired. Now, whenever I want to locate particular notes, I just click open InfoRapid and run an incredibly speedy search thru the rtf files I've compiled, courtesy of the IO package. E-Heaven y'all !!
A quick word about the pen. Yes, it's larger than usual, but the grip area is comparable to a highlighter. It's also textured and curved, making for a delightfully comfortable writing experience (even for this woman with very small hands). On the down side, I wouldn't place it in a shirt pocket, for the same reason I've learned not to place loose change there. The pen can be clipped to the pocket for stability purposes, but the size of the bottom portion overwhelms the smaller top part, tending to unexpectedly detach itself. Undiscovered, that's a recipe for battery drain. There's only one other "grrr", but it too is of minor concern: there's a "keyword" deal with the software-- I suspect it's a hold-over from the initial version. Complete pain in the skleeboop, as you have to add the keyword to a list first, rather than on the fly. Thankfully, we can avoid the whole hassle, now that the full-page recognition/conversion capability is available, obviating the need for discreet searchable keywords.
That brings me to the issue of revisions, after the recognition process kicks in. I can't imagine an easier process. Your handwritten notes appear in one pane, post download. A nicely sized popup box shows the plain text translation. Thus, a quick comparative glance tells you whether you really "need" to correct anything. Personally, I purchased the pen with the goal of searchable notes, not letter- or brief-writing. Hence, as picky as I am (attorney- so I truly require precision in most instances), I rarely "need" to make revisions, since the accuracy is good enough to permit the searchability I've long craved. If there's a question later, I have the luxury of a backup via the handwritten notebook-- with no extra strain whatsoever. (Huge sigh of contentment!)
You can view very precise discussions at the Logitech IO Pen users' forum: I found it especially enlightening to learn there that many user comments were taken to heart by Logitech, as most have been incorporated into the upgraded software. One cautionary note though-- on my XP/SP1 machine, I couldn't get the version 2 software to install. My stupidity, as the materials tell you that version 1.1 of the .Net Framework is required. I failed to focus on the fact that my long ago installed version was merely 1.0. Duh! A quick scurry to the MS site to download v 1.1, and I was set. Once that requisite was satisfied, I elected to install the CD version, and immediately thereafter, the newer version 2 downloaded package. Smooth as silk during installation, and every day thereafter. (I've been a notetaking little demon for the past 10 or so days straight, so if there were glitches, trust me, I'd have bumped into them by now.)
You'll likely fall in love with this beauty. But, since a writing utensil is such an intensely personal choice, an Amazon.com purchase would be wise.......

As the previous poster stated, there is no documentation with the card.
However, a quick trip to their web site, and you can download a pdf that covers everything you need to know about the card.
I prefer this card over many others because it does not required a separate power supply to run the card.

(More customer reviews)Bu hao. Keep looking for a translator, and try it out before purchasing online. I bought this model from 17th Street Photo Supply and found it entirely unsatisfactory. The translation pen does not work. The Chinese characters are often too complex for good resolution on the screen. The operation of the device is not intuitive. Unfortunately, the stingy 7-day return policy did not give me enough time to unpack and get to know this device before the return period expired. The store could not be bothered to reply to an e-mail inquiry. Good luck in finding a suitable translator; I cannot recommend this model.

Epson Stylus Photo RX700 Photo Printer Review

(More customer reviews)I needed to reduce the clutter/items in my bedroom (scanner, printer, fax), so I needed to get an all in one. I've had this baby for about 2 weeks now, and it is awesome. I've already gone through one set of ink cartridges testing all its features. I considered getting the AIO hp 7310 but decided the direct cd/dvd printing from this Epson was a must have. I'll just keep my original fax machine. My fil and I are always in competition for the latest gadgets and when I printed photos for him...he was amazed!! He owns a Sony 4x6 thermal dye printer and it was not even close to the way my Epson printed photos. He brought over 3 boxes of slides and I cannot believe the resolution for scanning slides. Unbelievable. When scanned using the restore faded slide/negatives feature, the output was incredible. It looks like I shot thes pictures yesterday, the colors are so vibrant. The preview screen is a great feature and beautiful. I rarely hook it up to my laptop, so it was great to see previews prior to printing. The Epson glossy photo paper works the best for photos. I've tried Kodak and HP papers and there is no comparison to the output on the Epson paper. Equivalent to a photo lab. For CD/DVD printing, I've used the Verbatim brand. They have less coasters and they look beautiful. My only peeve would be the cost of and finding replacement ink. It cost anywhere between $75-80 to replace all cartridges, 6 individual ink cartridges (so you only replace the color that runs out). If you are using this mainly for printing photos, then I would suggest getting a dedicated 4x6 printer. It's not cost effective to print on this one. But if you are looking for a great all around printer....then this is the one you want.

Cobra XRS 9340 High Performance 12 Band Radar/Laser Detector Review

(More customer reviews)Having shopped for a detector for a while, I finally settled on this one. I have had it for a few months, I live in New York and waited until I got back from a road trip to Florida to review this detector...
On the road trip, it picked up every cop that was staked out. Every single one. I had zero tickets. In Maryland, the troopers were using laser. I was going through at 2AM, doing about 85...The detector let me know about 7 seperate laser attempts. Every time, I slowed down right away and was fine. There were some times when I couldn't even see the officer responsible!
In other states, the radar KA band let me know about all of the troopers around well in advance. I did turn it off for DC and VA in accordance with their laws. The strobe and safety alerts worked well in Florida, when there was an accident, and later when an ambulance was behind me and needed to get through. VG-2 alerts also work well, as I was radar detector detected several times throughout the trip.
I know that most detectors are terrible for laser protection, but this one seems superior to others. Granted, the officer usually has your speed recorded by the time the laser detector goes off, but the detector seemed to work time and again for laser for me! The range of radar detection, especially for KA band, is pretty far. In a straight stretch I have picked up signals from almost half a mile back!
The only potentially annoying thing about this detector is the X band detection, which goes off any time I am around a building security system (banks, car dealerships, etc) or automatic doors at like a supermarket or CVS or something. This can be turned off, however!!
ONE IMPORTANT NOTE: A radar detector is only as good as how you have it mounted!! My friend has the same detector and he absolutely hates it, says it never picks anything up. I saw how it was mounted, he has it on the dash, below the wipers...a radar detector is a line-of-sight device, people! It has to be able to see all around your vehicle in order for it to be of any use to you! So long as you have it mounted sell, clear of obstructions, I don't think you can get any better protection!

HP Photosmart 8250 Printer (Q3470A#ABA) Review

(More customer reviews)This is an excellent printer for the serious photographer. The images are clear, sharp, and crisp, and professional in every way, at least to my amateur eye. I am a picky amateur photographer, and I bought this printer so that I could easily print 8x10, 5x7, and 4x6 photos from my several digital cameras. This printer does the job. This is a beautifully engineered and solid piece of equipment.
Some technical issues. Beware, when the ink first prints, it smears easily, so let it dry for a few minutes--it dries quickly enough. I am happy to say that the photo download from the card reader slot (I measured it on the CF card reader--I haven't tried it for my SD cards yet) is lightning fast, as compared to my older HP printers, I guess that is the USB 2.0 that this device features. This is a welcome improvement--earlier HP printers lagged behind even cheap card readers in speed. No more.
So far my print feeds have been flawless and jam-free. You can effortlessly switch between 4x6 and 8x10 prints, and the feeds are fine. (Haven't tried 5x7s yet, but I expect no problems.) When you first take the printer out of the box it will prompt you to put paper in the printer and let it test the ink cartridges. Beware--you need to install them first. This only takes a second, and these are the most foolproof printer cartridges I have ever seen, but the printer does not tell you that the cartridges are not yet installed, at least not until you try to run the diagnostic. No big deal; I installed them, and the printer calibrated itself perfectly!
The printer installed perfectly and effortlessly the very first time. Simply insert the supplied CD and follow the instructions. Remember not to insert the (not supplied!) USB2 cable into the computer until the software prompts you to do so.
It appears to me that some of the other reviewers (here on Amazon) of this printer made the same initial mistake I made. Specifically, here is the deal: this printer can detect what kind of paper you are feeding it (if it is HP paper anyway)--it detects it from a code on the back of the paper and it adjusts the ink application accordingly. Further, this printer is very precise as to how it applies ink to a given paper type. So if you try to manually tell it what kind of paper you are using, and if you guess wrong, you will get lousy pictures with the ink incorrectly applied. Once I figured out the rather amazing fact that this printer KNOWS what kind of paper it is printing on, I started getting wonderful pictures. (It literally never occurred to me that it could do this--I had to, you guessed it, read the manual to find this out). This is cool--you can insert different kinds of HP photo paper in the same stack, e.g. matte, glossy, etc. and expect to get perfect pictures without having to look in the printer to see what paper is next. Just tell it on the print menu to automatically select the paper type. I love the 21st century!
Personally, I think that HP has hit a home run with this one. While I cannot compare this one to its rivals from Epson or Canon (I have not reviewed these), I can say that I am completely satisfied. Recommended.

After doing some research on metal detectors, I decided the Bounty Hunter model was a reasonably priced investment for the search. It was easy to assemble and use and I was able to locate the lost ring after about 15 minutes of searching (I did have a general idea of the location of where the ring had gotten lost and it was only an inch or so under the surface).

Wizcom QuickLink SuperPen Review

(More customer reviews)The product description glosses over the problems you may encounter trying to connect this thing to your PC. It only supports a male 9-pin serial port. If you do not have one, you need to buy an adapter. Even then, you may be unpleasantly surprised. I bought a 9- to 25-pin serial adapter at Radio Shack only to burn an hour trying to set it up, and finally found, deep on the company web site, an explanation that it would only support a male 25- adapter. Now I have ordered a $20 +$5 shipping USB adapter off the Wizcom website. (Don't be fooled by the "optional USB" nonsense in the product description. It is optional in the sense that you can buy the $20 adapter later, after wasting half a day wading through the poorly documented material.) I feel that this company has been deliberately vague about the issues a customer is likely to encounter in setting this thing up. Oh, and I forgot to mention the UI's on both the pen and the desktop are wack.

(More customer reviews)The 6' 4 pin to 6 pin Belkin IEEE 1394/Firewire cable does exactly what it says it should for relatively cheap. As long as you're at the 400 MB/s standard as this is, there's no need to spend $50 on a gold plated connector and superheavy isolation like the Monster cables. Firewire is designed to function up to 15' without signal degradation, and unlike analog signals the 0 and 1s of digital signals aren't subject to manipulation by electrical fields. Either they get through or they don't, so as long as these are certified under the standard you save money by not buying useless frills. It's shiny translucent silver, not black, but if you care that much about cable color you probably already have your cables hidden anyway.
The 4 pin models work with most electrical powered devices; the 6 pin models usually are for devices that need battery power. (The extra two pins carry current.) For those looking for an adapter for Comcast/Motorola HDTV-ready digital boxes, this is the cable you need. For some reason Motorola decided to use a 6 pin adapter, where almost all HDTVs and DVHS VCRs use a 4 pin. (PCs typically use 6.) I've used one for a while now to run flawless 1080i signals between my Comcast HDTV box and my DVHS VCR. Recommended.

Icom IC-A6 Handheld Comm Review

(More customer reviews)I did a reception comparison some time back, and the A6 came out way ahead of the other scanners. Although the A6 is technically not a scanner, I am currently using it as a scanner. However, as the other commenter pointed out, the keyboard is somewhat cryptic and not so obvious how to use it. I didn't find the manual all that bad, but I can see how it can be difficult to follow. For product quality I would give this a 5 star, but for user friendliness may be 3 stars. I have it connected to multiple computers and I have also connected this product to a USB hub with multiple printers so I can print from any one of the computers to the printer that I select. It comes with software, but it works without the software for Windows XP and Vista Operating Systems. Although it is not an automatic switch, the manual switch works great for what it does. It's awesome!!!!

WizCom QuickLink Pen Handheld Scanner Review

(More customer reviews)I just purchased this handheld scanner because, as a PhD student and full-time manager, I have tons of reading to do. Before I purchased QuickLink, I either had to hand write or type notes into my PC, spend hours at a copier, or spend lots of time using a full-sized scanner to save the quotes and important text that I needed. Now, this WizCom scanner allows me to easily and quickly scan articles, books and other text no matter where I am (on a plane, in a hotel room, at work, or by the
pool). Then I can quickly upload the text into Word or WordPerfect (or other software programs) when I have the chance. Or, if I want, I can scan directly into a specific file.
Though it takes a while to get used to the pen and its menus, a previous reviewer was right on the money when they offered this tip - "Put the pen in the "left-handed" mode, turn the material upside down and then scan from right to left. This lets the user "look ahead" along the desired pen track (printed line) and helps keep the scanning down the center of the line." THIS REALLY DOES WORK and makes scanning much faster and more precise. (I'm not sure, but if you are left-handed, the reverse directions might work for you.)
Now that I have the knack of using the QuickLink pen, I love it! It saves me tons of time and I can now scan only the text I want instead of copying the entire page. For the price and convenience, it's great.

Cordless Hand Scanner 7E Review

With the cordless scanner, I can place my PDA in my pocket, attach an earphone, and work hands free. It is faster, easier, and more productive!!

Cobra HHROADTRIP 40-Channel CB Radio Review

(More customer reviews)I purchased two of these units for our emergency "go" kits and regularly carry one in the truck.
I like the size and features where you have both CB and weather channels, the hot swap between services is handy as is the CB channel 9/19 hot key. The noise filter does work and gives better reception under some conditions.
Some limits I've found: The antenna designed for use with the unit in CB hand held mode limits communications to under a quarter mile line of sight in my case and the magnetic vehicle antenna will go about half a mile. I'm looking for a better mast antenna for the vehicle.
The weather channel reception is comparable with my scanner.
One thing that I didn't realize when I purchased the radios, and this would have made a difference to me, the A/C charging adapter is NOT part of the package and must be bought separately so if you want to stay off of the battery charger merry-go-round I recommend buying the charger when you buy the radio. Be aware also that the power cord provided for use in a vehicle does NOT charge the radios batterys.
What I really don't like and almost caused me to return the radios: These units use 9 - "AA" batteries, I purchased 18 rechargable batteries - about 5 bucks each, I hadn't purchased the chargers with the radios and ended up buying the biggest stand-alone battery charger I could find locally, all of the chargers I found work in paired sets and mine handles 8 at a time, so 9 is a real pain.

IRIScan Executive 2 Review

I installed IRIScan on a Mac Book G4 running Mac OS X 10.5.2. Following the installation instructions I installed the Readiris Pro 11 software then plugged the IRIScan into a USB port. I next calibrated the scanner using the provided calibration sheet and was all set to begin. I chose a text document, fed it into the scanner and waited. The scanned result was a blank page I tried again, same result. I chose another document and once again it produced a blank page. The Quick Start Guide was of little use. I checked the settings and tried several more times but nothing happened. Because it was late in the evening I put it away and decided I would check it out another day.
My next experience began the same way, so I opened up the electronic 128 page User's Manual. I spent two hours reading the manual, which didn't have any troubleshooting information and no instructions relating to my problem, making minor changes in the settings, and trying to scan. Finally success! However, I don't really know what made the difference.
The first document I scanned had several inaccuracies in the final product. The User's Manual explains that there are so many fonts and styles and sometimes there are extra dots left on the page and the OCR has trouble interpreting the text, but there is a Learn button in the program that will allow it to learn the unrecognized font or letters.
I continued scanning several documents from different sources. They all scanned word-for-word perfect. One had a format discrepancy. A nice feature of this software is all documents can be saved to any text or word processing application and be edited and adjusted.
I was happy with the text scanning results and wanted to try photos. The photo scans were a complete failure. The black and white pictures were like negatives and the color photos were blotchy with lots of white space. I gave up on photos and decided to install the Cardiris software.
Cardiris installed quickly, I connected the IRIScan, opened the software and nothing. It would not work. It was then that I discovered an update for Cardiris which I quickly downloaded and installed. It connected with the IRIScan immediately and I was ready to try scanning business cards. What a great tool. The business cards are accurately scanned and can be saved in the Cardiris database, the contact information can also be added to your Address Book. The information can be sent to applications such as Microsoft Entourage, New Contact, Microsoft Excel and others. Cardiris was very accurate in reading the cards and inserting the information in the correct places in Address Book even when scanning a "busy" card.
I still wasn't able to scan photos, so during my next session with IRIScan I checked the website for information but there is no help for Mac posted. I finally decided to email support. I received a reply back in about two hours. They had me re-calibrate. Afterwards I tried scanning black & white photos, they weren't much better. Then I changed the setting from black & white to grayscale and tried again. This setting change corrected the problem with black & white photos and the resulting scans were great, but i still didn't have a solution for the color photos.
I emailed support again late at night and had an answer in the morning. This time they said to change one of the settings from Automatic to Custom. It worked! Now i can produce beautiful scanned copies of color photographs.
The software included with IRIScan is definitely not written for Mac OS X . I found the interface to be quite awkward and the supplied user information inadequate. However, the support response was quick and courteous.
You are able to save your text scans in many different editable files, PDF, word processing, text edit, email, etc. The Windows version of IRIScan includes a photo editing program which would have been useful in the Mac version. I had to crop my photos after saving them to get rid of the extra black background surrounding the picture.
The Windows version also includes a translation program that will automatically translate from one language to another. I was able to successfully scan in a German document but the translation feature does not exist in the Mac version.
The IRIScan is lightweight, small and portable with USB connection.. You are able to scan full page documents, business cards and photos with up to 600 DPI. Colors are bright and text is clear. The speed is slow.
Though my initial start up with IRIScan was frustrating I now can scan documents, photos, and business cards almost flawlessly. Because of its size and portability it is a good tool to take along wherever you may travel. If you are considering purchasing an IRIScan for a Mac you may want to look at the IRIScan Express 2. The additional price for the Executive 2 includes software that is for Windows only.
