We bought this item for our small architectural office. The feeder saves us time and is very easy to use. The feeder costs more than the scanner, but it is worth purchasing if you have several documents (especially double-sided ones)to scan every 1-2 weeks.

I just ordered this scanner a few days ago and it arrived very quickly, it was so simple to install a 5 year old could do it, just put in the software, push install, and plug 1 cord into the back of your comp and the other into a wall socket and you are ready to go. The software that came with it is great, and it scans under 10 seconds on 200 dpi, It has the most beautiful quality scans i have ever seen in both grayscale, and color. It's just amazing! I love the preview feature! it has a real-time preview feature where you can change, contrast, lighting, etc and see it happen while you are doing it, so you know exactly what it looks like when you scan it. I encourage everyone who needs a scanner or just wants one to get this one! it's the best!

Canon DR-5020 Large-Capacity Document Scanner Review

Canon DR-5020 Large-Capacity Document Scanner
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This item is not what you think it is! It's from way back in 1995, which is a technological ice age ago. It requires a 40 pin SCSI cable to run (which is tricky for the average non-IT person to install). It requires special software to run it, and it doesn't scan to PDF. Yes, that's right, no PDFs. I am in the process of returning one I just bought and I cannot tell you how disappointed we were in it. The one we bought had other issues, though, like falling apart and not working due to mechanical issues. This one may be in perfect working order, but just know what you are getting into. Buyer beware.

Microtek ScanMaker 5600 Scanner Review

Microtek ScanMaker 5600 Scanner
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I just recently bought this scanner for scanning in old photo albums as well as old newspaper and magazine clippings. For the versatility and quality of this machine you are getting a bargain. the four-up scanning saves a lot of time. The Microtek will allow you to scan in a variety of different formats so you no longer need to convert tiffs to jpegs-you can just scan into jpegs or gifs or whatever you want. It is great because you are able to save each picture as its own file. It comes with a utility that allows you to do color balancing and tone changes before you scan. You can also use this scanner to copy straight to your printer as well as doing one touch text and email functions. Bottom line, a great scanner at a good price.

Five one-touch operating buttons make the 5600 simple to use when copying, e-mailing, or scanning images directly to the Web. The maximum scan area is 8.5 by 11 inches, and the 4-up scanning allows up to four photos at once.
The scanner connects to your PC or Macintosh via USB interface, and it includes a software bundle of Adobe imaging products (Adobe Photoshop LE 5.0, Adobe PhotoDeluxe 4.0, and Adobe Acrobat Reader), as well as Ulead PhotoExplorer, ABBYY FineReader Sprint OCR, Kodak Digital Science Color Management, and Microtek management utilities. Visioneer 6100 Color Flatbed USB Scanner Review

Visioneer 6100 Color Flatbed USB Scanner

Setup was a mere unpack, unlock, plug-in, load software & begin scanning. The software package is comparable to Adobe & most other TWAIN-ware. The performance exceeded my expectations. I require high resolution / high color depth duplication -- and I got it! Coupled with a high-resolution printer, I was able to obtain first-use results approaching that of the original photo. The PaperPort software provides sufficient tweaks & adjustments to give quick & impressive results. The scanned image quality rivals that of other products costing much more.

Epson Expression 10000XL Large-Format Flatbed Photo Scanner Review

Epson Expression 10000XL Large-Format Flatbed Photo Scanner
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This scanner is wonderful. The image quality is excellent. I had friends wondering if I should spend so much on a scanner, then when they saw the images of plants I made, they said "How does it make that look so much better than life?"!
Be careful when scanning non-paper items such as plants or ceramics, the glass can be scratched (on this or any scanner). I buy clear acetate or plexiglass to put on top of the glass in such cases.
As a botanical illustrator, I find this scanner to be a great timesaver. I can scan and enlarge the parts of a plant I need to illustrate, seeing detail much better than through a microscope.

Mustek ScanExpress A3 USB 1200 Pro - Flatbed scanner - A3 - 1200 dpi x 1200 dpi - USB Review

Mustek ScanExpress A3 USB 1200 Pro - Flatbed scanner - A3 - 1200 dpi x 1200 dpi - USB
Average Reviews:

This scanner is great for 11x17 scans. I'm a textile designer and need to scan large fabric prints and this scanner, for the price, is awesome!
The functions are easy and scanning time is faster than I thought. I used to have a HP scanner and that took forever...not to mention the warm up time. But, this scanner has a relatively quick warm up and scanning time.
The only reason I gave it a 4 star instead of 5 is because there is a little 1/4" fish bowl effect at the edges of the scans. But, I have to piece together prints anyways, so it's not that big of a deal. For the price, it's still well worth it.

Epson GT-20000 B11B195011 High Performance Scanner (White) Review

Epson GT-20000 B11B195011 High Performance Scanner (White)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Great large-format scanner. It's a work horse--not many frills, but very competent. I use it almost exclusively for document scanning (mostly music), and mostly at 600dpi. While I've done some photo scans, I'm not competent to judge their quality, other than that I subjectively like them better than my $100 Canon scanner.
I'd love to see someone compare this scanner to the Epson $2500 model, for performance *and* quality. (For my use, performance at 600dpi is more important than the scanner's absolute best quality at its max optical dpi.)
PROs: Large format; document good scan quality; Much faster than $100 letter-sized scanners; nice lid (easily removable, flexible positioning); reasonable software bundle.
CONs: Big (probably true of all large format scanners); cooling fan is a bit loud, but does turn off after about 5 minutes of non-use.

Mustek ScanExpress A3 USB 2400 Pro Scanner Review

Mustek ScanExpress A3 USB 2400 Pro Scanner
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've been searching, tediously for a wide format scanner for over a year and the cheapest I could find that worked with Windows 7 was and an Epson for $1,047. And Honestly I couldn't afford that. I'm a freelance cartoonist who works on large sized Bristol. I gave up hope and desided to save some money to purchase that Epson in a few months.
Then out of nowhere Mustek comes out with an upgrade to their old wide format scanner. For only [...] bucks, I was in awe to see its specs and price. I ordered it right away, almost not thinking twice. The Software is a bit confusing, but if you worked with any kind of scanner in the past it isn't impossible to grow accustom to. It looks nice and isn't an eye sore as a lot of others were. But more importantly was the quality of scanning. I took out an old comic page and scanned it as soon as I had it connected and the software was installed.
The only thing I am a little disappointed in was that you can't select the DPI specifically. It has 3 settings, "Normal" "Fine" and "Very Fine. I'm assuming very fine is the 2400 DPI that was listed on its specs. Honestly that's my only complaint as of now... I had it for going on one week and I'm very pleased with it.
Once you have the software completely installed, you don't even need to open up the program when you want to scan. You simply have to open the scanners lid and PRESTO! The program automatically loads on screen. It scans pretty quickly as well, my pages are highly detailed with hatching and values, it takes roughly 30 seconds per page and all I have to do it load it into Photoshop and touch it up a little as I always to with any scan and the image is perfect. It also has some sound effects that remind me of a lot about Samsung Products, You know it has a retro sounding NES feel to it, which I personally like and think it an interesting touch.
I give this a 4/5 because... The DPI settings is a little confusing, the physical frame is a little delicate frame and because I rarely give out 5's. But I'd rather save the 700 - 1500 bucks and get this then a 5 star Epson. I haven't heard much of Mustek and this is my first product of theirs, but as far as I can see it's a very promising company which made a promising product that saved me a butt load of cash. And this Artist recommends it, especially for you comic artist out there looking for a cheap but good big boy scanner.

Canon PIXMA Pro9000 Mark II Inkjet Photo Printer (3295B002) Review

Canon PIXMA Pro9000 Mark II Inkjet Photo Printer (3295B002)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I Just got this printer from Adorama today (via UPS) and this thing is incredible. Im a professional photographer and this printer prints lab qaulity prints super fast. I made sure I used Photoshop to print some test pictures )4x6 on Canon Photo Plus Semi Gloss and it matched exactly what was on my screen. As a matter of fact the prints look better than whats on my screen...I had to do a double take. I no longer will be using the lab to order prints for my clients (only wedding books), Im printing them all myself. The speed is also amazing. The only thing I dont like thus far is the noise of the print head when the printer starts up and before prints start printing. When the picture prints its pretty quiet though. I will update my review after about a week after i dump a few hundred more prints for my clients.
***** Update #1 ***** : Ok Now I've had this printer a few weeks and I've printed a few hundred pictures in a variety of sizes (4x6, 5x7 , 8.5x11 and 13x19) and this is a must have printer for those wanting to print their own professional lab (and better than lab quality) photos. This bad boy is very fast and the print quality is just absolutely superb (I use Canon Photo Paper Plus Glossy , Ilford Galerie Smooth Pearl, Ilford Galerie Smooth Gloss Paper and Ilfor Printasia 13x19 paper and Canon Photo Paper Plus Glossy II 13x19). I've shown my photographs to a variety of clients, potential clients, freinds and family and they are blown away by the quality of the prints. When I tell them I printed them myself they are like "What?, No way" and then they asume I must have spent a whole lot of money on the printer...which is wrong ([...] after rebate from amazon/adorama).
Pros :
Fast - This printer spits out a vibrant and full of color 13x19 glossy print in under 3 minutes 30 seconds.
[...]
Quiet - I can print at all hours of the night and not worry about waking anyone up. When Im in the next room with the door open the printer prints so quiet I cant even hear it and have to come check on the print job to make sure it didnt crash since I cant hear any noise in the next room..lol
Quality - Prints professional quality prints on a variety of papers in many different sizes.
Paper - You ARE NOT limited to Canon papers as you can use a bunch of other manufacturers papers. My Favorite thus far is Ilford (cheap from amazon and is basically identical to expensive Canon paper).
Ink Usuage - Good on ink, Not really an ink guzzler. I printed dozens and dozens of 4x6's and even a bunch of 8x11's and 13x19s and the ink kept going and going, until I finaly started running low (after many prints had been printed). Also I now use The Continuous Ink System , so ink is now dirt cheap. Costs something link [...] per cartridge (estimated - all I know is I pay [...] for and 8 pack of about 880 ml's of ink which is over 80 cartridges (no joke, visit fleabay and youll see tons of them)...Save money and Dont buy Canon Ink Carts and you will save at least 50% right off the bat).
Cons :
B&W printing - Prints mediocre black and white prints. This is no secret and I knew this before I bought it. I dont care about black and white prints just color so its all good for me.
Size - This is a big mamma-jamma. You will have to dedicate a space to this thing because of its width.
CD Printing - The US version of this printer does not print to CD's at all and there are no hacks that enable the CD printing feature (Like with the Pixma Pro 9000). If you need CD printing, just print to photo quality CD labels.
Overal: This is a fantastic buy. If you need professional quality color prints done in house you will surely love this printer. Canon outdid itself with this model... The price is steadily falling too. Especially after the [...] rebate.
***** Update #2 ******
DO NOT USE OR BUY THE CONTINUOUS INK SYSTEM FROM SUPERjetUSA With THIS PRINTER:
I bought the continuous ink system from superjetUSA off ebay and it worked fine for a short while and then it leaked ink all inside my printer. All 800+ml's. It was a huge mess and it caused me to use many hours of my valuable time and waste dozens and dozens and dozens of pieces of plain paper/photo paper to clean out the leaking mess. Then SuperjetUSA refused to give me my money back and kept telling me to do this and that and email them pictures of the mess. It took me weeks to clean it up and there is a still an ink mess in my printer. ONLY USE INK CARTRIDGES (stay away from the Continuous ink system) FROM A GOOD SOURCE. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
I've had this printer for months and it continues to be an awesome printer. No complaints. I made almost the entire printer purchase price of the printer back within only a few weeks of having the printer..thats how good the prints are.. THE CANON PIXMA 9000 MKII is an awesome investment.

Epson Expression 10000XL- Graphic Arts Scanner Review

Epson Expression 10000XL- Graphic Arts Scanner
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this recently because I wanted to upgrade from my old scanner, the Microtek 9800XL large format scanner.
I create highly detailed scratchboard line art and wanted a scanner that could capture the best possible scans of my work, which I can color digitally and send out to clients in electronic form. (I wasn't confident that my old scanner was doing the job as well as I hoped for.) Both the new and the old scanner are large format but the Epson 10000Xl is more than twice the cost of the Microtek 9800XL. Do I think the upgrade is worth it? Without a doubt.
Here is a list of cons associated with the Microtek that made me take the risk to upgrading:
1. Quirky driver. Sometimes the software could not find the installed driver and I had to restart the computer several times before it would work.
2. Microtek support is practically useless.
3. Very noisy operation
4. Scans required a lot of post production to arrive at the best capture of detail between dark and light tones. I had to scan in grayscale @ 1200dpi, make adjustment with Photoshop before converting to bitmap. With this scanner, the B&W bitmap scanning option was not capturing all the details.
The Epson, in comparison, has been a joy to own. Not only are the results much better, but the unit scans straight to B&W bitmap flawlessly, saving me time in post processing. I do need to clean the scan from unwanted specs but that is still a 50% reduction of time spent getting it optimized. The unit is also much quieter, has a slightly larger scan area, and built with superior design and parts. The lid stays open when raised at an angle whereas the Microtek was a slave to gravity.
After owning it about a month, there have been no problems to report. Since my livelihood relies on the quality of the images I produce, its a good investment and well worth the cost.

If you are looking for a scanner that can scan a full page of comic art in one pass then look no further. No more scanning in pieces and cutting and pasting pages together. The scan area has enough room for a full sized 11" x 17" comic page with room to spare. The extra software isn't great or bad, if you are already scanning into your chosen software you probably won't use it. Plus it's about the hardware and I am so glad I got this scanner, it has made scanning pages a lot easier.
