Remanufactured RadioShack PRO-163 1000-Channel Triple Trunking Mobile/Base Scanner Review
Average Reviews:
(More customer reviews)I have enjoyed owning (and using) Radio Shack scanners since 1975 (my first was a Realistic PRO-4 crystal-controlled hand-held receiver); it's amazing to see how far they have come.
I downloaded ARC300 software and, with the USB programming cable from Radio Shack (virtually identical to the one from GRE); I had my PRO-163 programmed and up and running in just a few minutes' time, with alpha tags on the individual frequencies. What a luxury!
The audio is crisp and clear, and everything functions just as advertised. This is a refurbished unit, but it came complete with everything the factory packs with new units, and it looked brand new.
I bought this scanner as an upgrade over my PRO-433; I really wanted alpha tagging and I have become spoiled with the Signal Stalker feature already .
If you want a solid, high-performance, non-digital trunk-tracking scanner, I recommend the PRO-163 wholeheartedly.
