(More customer reviews)I'll start by letting everyone know that I'm not an expert. I just recently got into radio frequency scanners, and really love being able to listen in on pilots taking off and landing at the local airports. With the "rubber duck" antenna that came with my scanner I can pick up signals from maybe 3 to 5 miles away, but after switching to the Maldol AL-500H, I can pick up pilot chatter from over 20 miles away while standing in my parking lot surrounded by Apt. buildings and trees. I do live on the second floor... the higher you are with less obstructions, the better signal you'll get. But needless to say I am extremely pleased with this antenna, and the fact that I can sit comfortably in my living room and still pick up traffic from all three airports in my county!
