Brother HL-2070N Network Monochrome Laser Printer (Black) Review

Brother HL-2070N Network Monochrome Laser Printer (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This printer doesn't have the 'built-like-a-tank" feel or weight of my old Laserwriter IIg, but it's far quicker and less troublesome. If you want to do black-and-white printing on a budget, I highly recommend it. I use it to print book drafts and even the 8-point type in footnotes is sharp and clear. The driver installed quickly and worked without a hitch on my Mac mini and MacBook.
Installed to run over an Ethernet network, this printer has a rudimentary web page server that allows you to use your web browser to configure some of its features remotely, including the print resolution and a toner save mode. You can also see how many pages you've used on the toner and drum, so you have an idea when each needs replacing. The web page configuration information is buried in the Network User's Guide, so I'll post it here. (Voting this review helpful will keep in near the top and help others to see this posting.)
The web address is: http://brn-8c4310.local/printer/main.html
That'll give you the printer's home page. To change the configuration, you'll need this information:
The default account is: admin
And the default password is: access

HP OfficeJet G55 All-in-One Review

HP OfficeJet G55 All-in-One
Average Reviews:

The Office Jet G55 has some very good points. Installation is fairly easy. The printer produces top quality color graphics. The scanning capabilities are among the best I've found, and I have enjoyed being able to easily enlarge scanned images to selected page sizes. The desktop manager is easy to use.
The only serious problem I have with the printer is the speed -- a reason I've avoided inkjets in the past. The printer is useful for small jobs if moderate-to-high quality output is needed. Large, high-quality color jobs require a multi-hour commitment.

When you need multiple features but aren't in the market for three separate units, the Hewlett-Packard OfficeJet G55 All-in-One saves you time, space, and money, since printer, scanner, and copier are built into one reliable and networkable product.
The OfficeJet G55 is designed with separate paper paths, which allow printing while you are scanning images; you can make copies while sending print jobs or scan while copying documents. The copier also works as a stand-alone device to produce fine quality monochrome or color copies in 600 x 600 dpi resolution at copy speeds of up to 12 ppm in black and 9 ppm in color. You can also select from 1 to 99 multiple copies. The reduction and enlargement options range from 25 to 400 percent. All the best qualities of the copier translate to the scanning and printing features as well. The flatbed scanner features resolution of 600 x 3,600 dpi (and up to 9,600 dpi enhanced) with 26-bit color and 8-bit gray scale (256 levels of gray for improved contrast). It includes optical character recognition (OCR) software for easy editing and revisions. The printer produces pages with 600 dpi resolution in black and 2,400 x 1,200 in color, with print speeds of up to 12 ppm in black and 10 ppm in color. The unit holds 150 sheets in the input tray, handling plain paper, ink-jet papers, labels, transparencies, glossy and matte photo paper, iron-on transfers, and more.
Built-in multitasking technology allows simultaneous operation, including direct PC faxing from supported applications and allowing images to be sent directly to e-mail with one-touch operation.
USB and parallel port connections, color ink cartridges, CD-ROM installation software, user guide, and bidirectional IEEE 1284 cable are all included. The one-year limited warranty covers parts and labor. --Barbara Price

Canon BCI-6G Green Ink Tank Review

They show a picture of a Canon ink box. They send compatible ink instead.
Compatible ink does not give the same color quality on Canon Paper that the real ink does. If you are selling compatible ink do not show it as Canon ink.

Canon PhotoCyan BCI-6PC Genuine Canon Ink Tank Review

Canon PhotoCyan BCI-6PC Genuine Canon Ink Tank
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Although lower cost substitute ink cartridges are sold all over the web, and on this site as well, the few bucks you might save aren't worth the all-too genuine risks of replacing with generic "no-name" ink tanks. I've heard (but wouldn't wish to try it, frankly) that generic inks fade faster when exposed to daylight, could clog the print-head spray nozzles, don't spread properly on top-quality paper, and simply can't compare with the uniquely formulated dyes that have been specially researched for your printer and its matching photo papers. The one exception might be if you use a black-ink-only inkjet [hard to imagine anyone could screw up black ink]. I concur that printer manufacturers use that old hoary "razor trick" (give away the razor, profit on the blades), but with Canon's individual ink tanks -- where you replace only those tanks that run dry, you aren't out a lot. My Canon photo printer uses an array of six ink tank colors. Of these six tanks (all available on this site), 'photo cyan' and 'photo magenta' seem to be used up 2 to 3 times faster than 'black'. In other words, rather than replacing an entire set of six ink tanks, you can replace just those tanks that run empty the soonest -- thus not having to toss out a 3-ink tank [as used by HP] where 2 of the 3 remaining inks still are far from used up. Just a word of caution here - make certain that every cartridge you order from Amazon clearly states its eligibility for SuperSaver shipping. If you have to add shipping charges to this low-cost item, you could end up paying more than you would have at the local office supply store.

Canon PG-50 Black FINE Ink Cartridge-High Capacity Review

Canon PG-50 Black FINE Ink Cartridge-High Capacity
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought the larger cartridges because I had read that they last so much longer. However, after having used a couple of the more expensive cartridges (which cost 50% more than the PG-40) I am convinced they do not last 50% longer than the regular cartridges. In fact I saw very little difference. After examining the boxes, I realize that the larger cartridge only holds 22ml versus 16ml for the regular (37.5% more). It doesn't even seem to last a third longer to me.
So I will purchase the regular cartridges from now on. Same print quality, but a better value.Texas user

Canon CL-51 High-Capacity Color Ink Cartridge Review

Canon CL-51 High-Capacity Color Ink Cartridge
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've been printing photos for the last six months, nearly 1500 so far. I have been using the "low" capacity cartridge and just finished up my first "high" capacity cartridge. I honestly, didn't notice any difference. The ink is great, quality product here, just didn't get "more" for my money.

Canon D340 Digital Copier Laser Printer Review

Canon D340 Digital Copier Laser Printer
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I selected this copier/printer based on price, features and the Canon name. I felt like I got "Oh such a deal" at the time I bought mine in Sept.08. It was painless to set up: install the software; plug in the USB cable (not provided) when prompted and click and Voila! I set it up as a shared printer and it is now the main printer in our 4 PC home network.
- Its quick
- Makes clear, clean copies
- Not as quiet as some when printing but definitely not loud
- Top sheet feeder works well, even for multiple sheets
- Toner cartridge was a breeze to install
- Enters and exits its "sleep" mode flawlessly, even from another PC on the network
- Comes with a FULL TONER CARTRIDGE, not a starter. For those who do not know about this: many new printers, especially when being sold at LOW prices, are sold with a toner cartridge that's only good for a few hundred copies at most. Just enough to get you started on day one and to give you time to go buy a "real" toner cartridge. This is often how the mfg's will move more units, by selling them at super-low prices knowing they will make their profits on you returning for toner.
With the rebate I couldn't pass this up, although if I were paying full retail I would have chosen one that also scans to the PC. This one DOES NOT. It is only a printer and copier. I would also consider one that has a Print server and NIC built-in IF I could also connect directly for scanning.
I would recommend this printer.
