HP OfficeJet G55 All-in-One Review

The Office Jet G55 has some very good points. Installation is fairly easy. The printer produces top quality color graphics. The scanning capabilities are among the best I've found, and I have enjoyed being able to easily enlarge scanned images to selected page sizes. The desktop manager is easy to use.
The only serious problem I have with the printer is the speed -- a reason I've avoided inkjets in the past. The printer is useful for small jobs if moderate-to-high quality output is needed. Large, high-quality color jobs require a multi-hour commitment.

When you need multiple features but aren't in the market for three separate units, the Hewlett-Packard OfficeJet G55 All-in-One saves you time, space, and money, since printer, scanner, and copier are built into one reliable and networkable product.
The OfficeJet G55 is designed with separate paper paths, which allow printing while you are scanning images; you can make copies while sending print jobs or scan while copying documents. The copier also works as a stand-alone device to produce fine quality monochrome or color copies in 600 x 600 dpi resolution at copy speeds of up to 12 ppm in black and 9 ppm in color. You can also select from 1 to 99 multiple copies. The reduction and enlargement options range from 25 to 400 percent. All the best qualities of the copier translate to the scanning and printing features as well. The flatbed scanner features resolution of 600 x 3,600 dpi (and up to 9,600 dpi enhanced) with 26-bit color and 8-bit gray scale (256 levels of gray for improved contrast). It includes optical character recognition (OCR) software for easy editing and revisions. The printer produces pages with 600 dpi resolution in black and 2,400 x 1,200 in color, with print speeds of up to 12 ppm in black and 10 ppm in color. The unit holds 150 sheets in the input tray, handling plain paper, ink-jet papers, labels, transparencies, glossy and matte photo paper, iron-on transfers, and more.
Built-in multitasking technology allows simultaneous operation, including direct PC faxing from supported applications and allowing images to be sent directly to e-mail with one-touch operation.
USB and parallel port connections, color ink cartridges, CD-ROM installation software, user guide, and bidirectional IEEE 1284 cable are all included. The one-year limited warranty covers parts and labor. --Barbara Price

Overall, I must say I do recommend this HP Deskjet to anyone in need of a printer. It's pretty reliable most of the time (90% of the time it prints and copies things, without fail. I've tried scanning 2-3 times, with no luck. So I can't comment too much on that!).
There are better printers out there for sure. But there are many more printers that don't perform this well.
Recommended.
4.3 stars.

I bought mine at Target for [...], great deal. Got it home, did install step by step and after step 6 installing the cartridges, close door, wait for it to self align, I got error lights for paper jam and low or no ink. Tried to reset several times, off and on, nothing worked. Looked at handy info with it and it said make sure you have all tape and cardboard off printer and printer cartridges, duh, not stupid did that already. But I checked again. Finally gave up and took back to Target to exchange. They had someone from their electronics area come over to confirm and he said oh you have to take all the tape off etc, so he checked, plugged it in at service area, and confirmed it didn't work. So I got the exchange, last one on the shelf and went home.
Exact same problem with this one !!! So I finally gave up and called tech support. First clue that might not work was when he asked if I was calling from India... err United States or Canada. When I gave him the model # he said sir that's a fax machine I'll have to transfer you. No it's not a fax, in fact that's the one thing it does NOT do, it's a printer/copier/scanner, no fax. He finally decided I was right and had me check.. wait for it.. that all the tape was off. He decided to then escalate me to level 2 service. 10 minutes later on came someone who asked me to plug it into a wall not a powerstrip/surge protector. That didn't work, power it off and wait a minute, that didn't work. Take out cartridges, turn off, wait a minute, put cartridges back in that didn't work. He finally said it's a hardware error with that model, let me get my manager and he'll help you decide what model you should upgrade to.
Huh? I have now spent 90+ minutes counting trips to Target etc and you think when I return it I'm going to get another HP? He told me not to take it back to Target first, wait for my manager maybe he can devise a solution. I said what is he going to do that you can't? I don't know sir.I said the next model up at Target was 99 bucks
unless your manager can get Target in Sunnyvale, CA to give me that for 38.88, I'm not interested. He again said wait for my manager and I said no I am returning the stupid printer, and hung up.
Took it back to Target. This time the manager of electronics came over to check, surely he can get it to work right? Nope, he too agrees it is defective you did everything right. So I exchanged for the Lexmark 2670, cost me
an additional 12 cents, big whoop. Installed perfectly and worked right away.
