(More customer reviews)There's not much to say about a swipe reader. There are two basic types: HID and keyboard emulator. This particular unit is of the latter type. Basically, in swiping a card, it sends characters to the computer just as if you'd typed them on a keyboard. (You can test this by opening up a text editor and then swiping a card)
They work like they're supposed to, there are no drivers to install. The USB cable was plenty long, and the package included some velcro sticky pads for mounting. This unit is mono-directional, mono-sided, meaning the card has to be swiped a certain direction, facing a certain way. No big deal. For a simple, cheap reader, this can't be beat.
