right out of the box this printer made great prints for pennies on the dollar, we picked this up because we're using a large format inkjet for proofs and it was eating us alive on print costs, for the price of the one set of large-format Epson ink cartridges we got this printer with toner included and have been very happy with the results, with almost no setup is very color accurate for a four color process printer, with almost no installation it went right onto the PCs and Macs and we haven't had a single problem with it. the prints are cheap enough that we can just give them away as proofs and not be concerned with the cost, and the media it prints on his very cost efficient in the printer itself is very reliable.

First of all the positives about this scanner.
1. It's fast. Very fast. Whether simplex or duplex.
2. High quality scans.
3. Easy to install.
Now for the negatives:
1. If the paper is not "fresh off the printer/copier" and in absolute PERFECT form, the ADF will jam EVERYTIME. Not only does it jam, it wads your original into a tight, crinkled up ball of paper.
If the originals were stapled together...forget about it. You have to remove the staple, copy the first page, and then run it through this scanner.
Although it is very fast (if you can get it to accept the originals), this is negated by the many trips to the copier to freshen up the first page.
This is my biggest negative and the main reason for such a low rating.
2. The ADF cannot auto-detect legal size documents. This makes it difficult to scan files that have a mixture of letter and legal.

The Xerox Phaser 3300MFP has delivered more than I expected at a very reasonable cost given the system's capabilities.
1) Physical installation is a snap-- just remove it from the carton, plug cables into the only places they fit, remove the tape that holds doors closed, insert the toner cartridge, unlock the scanner mechanism and it's done. In our case we also added the second 250 sheet paper tray which equally simple.
2) Software installation on a Windows-7 Professional platform was limited to inserting the CD-ROM, telling it to use a network connected printer, and picking the printer from a displayed list.
3) Setting up the printers firmware uses the web interface which worked exactly as expected and offered no problems that an occational quick look into the on-line manual failed to cure.
4) EVERY feature worked as documented, including scan to Email, scan to Network, and FAX forward to Email.
The web interface can be a bit difficult for people with little or no ability to actually read and follow instructions. But if you open the manual in one browser window and the machine's web interface in another and then accept that Xerox knows more about their machine than you do... it all works fine.
Some features are especially nice. One very useful one is that it you can put a stack of pages in the feeder and then scan them directly to a folder on your computer in one of several formats. Another useful feature, especially for small business types, is that incoming faxes can be set to automatically forward to your email as a PDF file. This is great because if an order or contract is sent by fax you can get it on your Blackberry or iPhone when away from the office.
The only "fault" I have with it is the machine's control panel. It uses a telephone keypad for all data input which makes things like entering Email addresses and mixed-case passwords sluggish. Perhaps Xerox will put a better human interface on the next generation.
Otherwise... a very good product that demonstrates good value.

This is a screaming fast scanner. Sheet fed scanners are great for 1 purpose, scanning sheets, not thick stuff, not a multi-sized stack of stuff, and not slippery stuff!
Great for sales people, mortgage brokers, real estate companies and so forth.
There are Vista 32 and 64 bit drivers on Xerox's site.

Xerox Phaser 3250/DN Mono Laser Network Duplex Printer Review

Xerox Phaser 3250/DN Mono Laser Network Duplex Printer
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This printer is simply amazing. Blazingly fast, super crisp, sharp, high resolution text output. I have been a long time user of HP printers. Mainly because everywhere I worked they had HP. Wow talk about guilty of being a lemming! Never again! Xerox makes far superior printers. Some of the reasons I am now a loyal Xerox customer:
1) Cross platform drivers. Xerox actually cares enough to write drivers for Windows, Linux, and OS X. I proudly only buy Apple computers and come from a UNIX background. So to see Xerox put in the effort and cost to write and maintain cross platform driver support tells me they care about the customer regardless of platform.
2) Dollar for dollar the Xerox won out over HP in speed, output resolution, cross platform support and features. This printer has network and automatic duplex support, supports Postscript 3, 1200 dpi, 30 pages per minute, and on top of that one of the fastest processors found in printers in this price range.
3) It's in the details dummy. Having used HP printers in the past I have had to connect via a Mac to the printer using a network connection to configure JetDirect. NOT A FAN! HP put no effort into a decent web based connection application to configure the printer over the network. Xerox not only put effort into it, the web feature is fast, easy to understand, works on any of the three supported platforms (which is more than I can say for HP) and makes configuring and upgrading the printers firmware dead simple.
4) Speed. This printer comes stock with 32MB of memory. While I think Xerox drank some drug spiked koolaid to think I am paying $500+ dollars for the 128MB memory module upgrade (thats more than the printer itself!) they offer, I am very happy with the stock 32MB of ram. This thing prints blazingly fast! It's started printing everything I have thrown at it in under 6 seconds even from sleep mode.
5) Noise. While I am sure someone can point out a printer that prints quieter, this is one of the quietest printers I have ever used. HP's have been loud and clunky. The Phaser has about half the noise output of any HP I have ever owned.
Xerox has been around for ever. Before buying this printer I had always thought they were mainly making big large digital print hardware for newspapers and magazines. No one I know has or ever had a Xerox printer.
I have learned from the error of my ways. HP is like windows. It may sell more printers than anyone but being number one does not equate to being the best or the best quality. I took a chance on this printer based simply on reading the specs for it. There were very few reviews for it. However the specs matched what I was looking for and then some. The price was reasonable for the feature set and very competitive with the other printer manufacturers. So I took a gamble and purchased the Phaser 3250DN as my first experience with Xerox. I have never been happier with the quality of a product than I am with the Phaser 3250DN. If you want the best printer on the market I strongly recommend the Xerox Phaser line. I can't say enough good things about it! Xerox makes far better printers than HP. I am a solid lifelong convert to Xerox now.

Xerox DocuMate 252 Review

Xerox DocuMate 252
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is the first scanner I've owned that does everything fast and well. For the past several years I've been scanning paper files to hard disk, to the end of achieving a paperless life.
I bought 7 scanners between 1999 and 2005, including an Epson, an HP, 4 Visioneers, and the Xerox Documate 252. All were either sheet-fed or had document handlers. All but the Xerox Documate were fair to dismal.
I used several of the previous scanners with a succession of Macs, while using others on a PC. For Macintosh the HP scanner software always proved dysfunctional. It failed outright a signficant part of the time. The HP hardware was similarly afflicted. The document feeder choked on a high proportion of documents run through it (for reasons I could neither fathom nor correct). The Epson worked slightly better, but was slow and clunky. Its document feeder frequently stuck, and gagged on something as minor as a slight crease in the paper.
The Visioneers had these and other problems as well. Also, files created in the Windows environment on older versions of Paperport scanning software that was bundled with these scanners (Version 5.5, for example) almost always became corrupted in some way when I transferred them from a PC to a Mac, and vice versa. Therefore I had to keep my Mac and Windows scanned archives on separate computers.
When I bought a Xerox Documate 252, it proved head and shoulders above any scanner I had previously owned or even seen. [The Xerox Documate does share the Visioneer nameplate, but as far as I can tell it has nothing in common mechanically with earlier Visioneers.] It makes one-sided or two-sided scans, in color, greyscale, or black and white. It is fast and accurate. The document feeder handles everything I throw at it (with very occasional paper jams). Also, the more recent versions of Paperport scanning software (9.0 and above) that are bundled with the Documate produce pdf files as the default scans. Pdfs transfer well between Mac and Windows. [Some file names do not transfer fully from Mac to Windows, but all file names transfer from Windows to Mac in my experience. Therefore it is better to do initial scanning in the Windows environment. That is necessary in any event with the Xerox Documate, which functions only on Windows operating systems. The Documate does work well, to my own knowledge, on an Intel-based Mac running Windows XP in Boot Camp. I don't know, however, whether that also obtains for Windows Vista in a similar configuration.]
I got more useful scanning done in 4 weeks after I bought this device than I had accomplished in the previous 6 years.
UPDATE: I've now used the Xerox Documate for over 3 years. It has lived up to its promise, and then some. I bought a second one for a different office; it has worked equally well. I have also bought a Fujitsu Scansnap S500. The Scansnap is a capable scanner, at half the price, but not in the same league with the Xerox Documate 252.
There is one further development worth noting. The latest version of the Paperport scanning software (version 11.0, which I am now running on a Vista platform) handles paper jams more deftly. When the document feeder jams, the scanner now provides the option to save the pages already scanned to the Paperport Desktop and continue with the unscanned pages after unclogging the jam. This is a vast improvement over earlier versions, where a jam on the next-to-last page required a complete do-over. [I did not notice, unfortunately, exactly when this improvement kicked in, so I can't say specifically what level of upgrade is necessary to obtain it.]
SECOND UPDATE September 26, 2009: I am updating this review to report that after 4 and 1/2 years the older of my two Xerox Documate 252s has faltered mechanically. The problem is that the roller in the document feeder does not reliably grip the pages of the documents that I insert for scanning. As a result the scanner sometimes just whirs for a time, then stops. The document must be reloaded at that point and the scanning restarted. It helps to press the documents down and against the feeder, but that defeats the self-executing element of the scanner. My conjecture is that the roller (which is made of rubber) has become harder and has shrunk a little, so that it no longer grips paper with as much friction as in its younger days -- a kind of mechanical equivalent of bone loss. In any event, my original Documate 252 is now in semi-retirement. I still use it for short documents that I can help along by hand through the feeder, but not for long sustained scanning jobs. I have replaced the Documate with a Fujitsu fi-6130, which I unpacked and set up today. When I've had more extended experience with the fi-6130, I'll review it on Amazon.com. Meanwhile, I did try a few quick scans earlier today and was tremendously impressed with the mechanical performance of the fi-6130 (although the software is distinctly unwelcoming and will take time to absorb).

Xerox DocuMate 510 Review

Xerox DocuMate 510
Average Reviews:

The unit seems to do a pretty good job as a document scanner. The rating depends on the purpose for which you purchase this scanner.
Couple items to note:
1. The unit does not come with the PaperPort Pro 9 office as advertised by Amazon. It is bundled with the Deluxe 9 software which is a less costly product.
2. The flat bed scanning of photos is not up to my expectations. It is probably ok if you're scanning photos for commercial / non-artistic reasons. I do not believe that this takes the place of a 'decent' photo scanner. I had planned to compromise on getting shorted on the Pro 9 Office software and keep this scanner. However I decided that it was not worth it given the compromise that I would also have to accept in the photo scanning.
3. The ADF always pulls slightly to the left as the pages go through. I don't know if this is a typical problem on other ADFs or not.
4. The instructions for the software both hard copy and on the web site are not thorough. A lot of trial and error is required in order to better understand the scanner options.
5. I don't like the fact that the Deluxe 9 software provides the 'preview' scan in a small sub-window. The window is too small to get any valuable 'preview' info.
6. A positive item is that Xerox has spare parts available for the ADF and scanner which may need replacing. I don't believe that this is typical for other non-commercial consumer type units.

I am a Mac user. It says it is Mac compatible, and it is. But Xerox's website does not acknowledge that fact anywhere. No mention of Mac on Bundled Software page, downloads, drivers, anywhere. It comes with one CD for Windows, and one for Mac. Like most scanners, the software they include is at least one version old (so that you will want to pay for an upgrade). But it works. On the CD for Mac were 2 software titles. No Read Me, no paper instructions for Mac, nothing. It's almost like the Mac doesn't exist. Weird.
Has worked OK. Currently not being recognized by the driver when I plug in the USB cord. Hopefully a reboot will help. When scanning, sometimes it's glorious, and sometime the de-skewing makes the crooked page MORE crooked. I had at least one page that came out 1/2 blank. The jury is still out. If I had it to do again, I think I would have spent the extra money to get a Fujitsu S1500.
UPDATED:
Yep. The Xerox was awful. Not just because I had a Mac. I returned it and bought a Fujitsu ScanSnap S1300. Fujitsu ScanSnap S1300 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Mobile Scanner (PA03603-B005) Works WAY better. I am very happy with it. No wonder all the reviews say you should buy Fujitsu. They were right.

Xerox DocuMate 152 Color ADF Duplex Scanner Review

Xerox DocuMate 152 Color ADF Duplex Scanner
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Finally, a (relatively) affordable duplex scanner with automatic document feed! I literally have boxes of papers and magazines I've been waiting to scan, but have never been able to find a quality, affordable scanner.
For all the good things about this scanner, be sure to read the PC Magazine review (July 2006).
Here, I wanted to mention a few downsides that were not evident from the Xerox product specifications or the PC Mag review.
1) Pages per Minute - the Xerox specs state 15 pages per minute for color duplex (both sides) scan at 150 dpi. Realistically, for anything with images/pictures, 150dpi is too low, so I end up scanning at 400dpi (typically magazine pages). At this setting, the scanner only scans 1.6 pages per minute! It seems that part of the slowness is related to the driver/software, as about 40% of the scan time is due to the driver/software "catching up" with the physical scanner.
2) ADF (Automatic Document Feeder) Capacity - the Xerox specs state the feeder holds 50 pages. This may be true, however, it is not possible to use this capacity, due to what I consider to be a major software flaw. The driver software actually times out after a certain amount of processing time. I haven't found any way to change this setting (nor any mention of it in the documentation). So, if I put in any more than about 8 pages in the ADF and perform a color duplex scan at 400dpi, the scan job will complete on the hardware, and then the software will actually time out and erase the entire scan job! You may get a few more pages by reducing dpi or going black and white. But beware, that you could find yourself having to load only 8 pages at a time.
3) Image lines - the scanner lamp seems to be affected by dust/paper "lint" heavily. About every 100 pages scanned, I start seeing red and green lines showing up on my scans. I then have to open up the scanner and dust/wipe off the lamp cover. This is not as easy as it sounds, as the opening is very narrow, and sometimes it takes 2-3 tries before the lines really go away.
4) Error Handling - I consider another major software flaw to be that whenever a scanner error occurs (usually a paper jam), the software deletes the entire scan job (all pages scanned before the error). So, if you've just waited 5 minutes for a scan job to complete and the last page jams, the software deletes all the pages already scanned, and you have to start all over! Another reason that you won't necessarily want to or be able to use the full ADF capacity.
So far, I'm still on the fence regarding whether these issues will cause me to return the scanner. (I've been using the scanner for about 2 weeks).
