High-Speed USB 4-Port Hub with Splitter Cable Review

High-Speed USB 4-Port Hub with Splitter Cable
Average Reviews:

At first I thought there was problem with the outside tentacles, but it turns out you just have to move things around if you're using items that draw power Vs transferring data. It slows things down ever so slightly---not enough for me to worry about.

Retractable USB/Mini/Firewire 1394 Cable Travel Kit - 6 Adapters/Converters Review

Retractable USB/Mini/Firewire 1394 Cable Travel Kit - 6 Adapters/Converters
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I acquired this to have the universal ability to connect many types of hardware to my PC without having to shuffle through cables in a drawer. The adaptors attach and unattach easily enough, but after one full extension of the retracable wires it will not completely retract any more... The two specific connectors I wanted it for do not work with the hardware I wanted them for. The conectors work at the most basic function. But if you have a higher end device, the connector will not do anything more than simply connect it to the PC. I tried the firewire to USB connector and it simply allowed my PC to recognize something had been connected but would not allow me to access the unit connected... Maybe some included software would be a good idea on a mini disk? If you are looking for a USB to USB, this will work, but other connectors don't really do anything. If you have the wires already, don't bother with this unit... in fact, even though this is extremely inexpensive, don't bother period.

Syba PCI -Expres USB 2.0 5-port Host Controller Card Review

Syba PCI -Expres USB 2.0 5-port Host Controller Card
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this card because it has FIVE external USB ports, it is PCI-E, and the price was very reasonable. The instructions are easy to follow and installed on first startup. NOTE: This card does require external power from a molex connector which are in most PCs. NOTE: Do not worry if you have used up all available molex power connectors in your PC because along with the card comes an adapter that splits one power source to two so you can connect the card along with whatever other device you have in your PC.

USB to Parallel IEEE 1284 Printer Adapter Cable PC (Connect your old parallel printer to a USB port) Review

USB to Parallel IEEE 1284 Printer Adapter Cable PC (Connect your old parallel printer to a USB port)
Average Reviews:

This product is not recognized in XP and the drivers (which are buried in a subdirectory on the mini CD) do not work even when manually added via add new hardware/ports/have disk -> mini CD drivers. XP sees there's a new USB device but is unable to locate any driver, nor asks where one is (as the documentation claims should happen). There is no company or support information, and the seller cable4less / cable4pc only has email. don't buy it

I figured I'd give the cheapest solution a try, and it worked perfectly in connecting to my old HP LaserJet 6L. Plugged it into the printer. Plugged it into the laptop. Immediately recognized printer, downloaded driver & said "Ready To Use." Done. I was printing sample sheets in about 2 minutes, start to finish, and I ain't no friggin' genius.

I use this every day to connect my PS/2 keyboard and mouse to my laptop's USB. The only problem is that the first key that I hit after booting up always comes out as gobbledeegook. However, once the cache or whatever is cleared it works great the rest of the day.

Sabrent USB to DB25 Female Parallel Converter Adapter 6-Foot Cable (USB-DB25F) Review

Sabrent USB to DB25 Female Parallel Converter Adapter 6-Foot Cable (USB-DB25F)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My HP LaserJet 1100 is reliable and inexpensive to run. My computers no longer have the parallel port it requires. This cable adapter was the perfect solution. I simply plugged my printer cable into the adapter cable, and the adapter cable into my USB port - worked the first time with no messing around. Windows is a bit quirky, though. You must plug the adapter cable consistently into the same USB for the printer to be recognized.

Cables Unlimited USB-2920 USB 2.0 to Serial DB9 Adapter (2.5 feet, Black) Review

Cables Unlimited USB-2920 USB 2.0 to Serial DB9 Adapter (2.5 feet, Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is by far the best USB to serial adapter I have used. A few years ago I went through many different adapters. Everything from $5 e-bay adapters to more expensive ones. The others either did not work they way they should, or they died on me after a short period of time.
I just purchased a second one of these to have in my backpack all the time. I use this adapter for everything from administering servers to configuring network equipment.
The disc that comes with this device come with drives for Windows, Linux, and Mac operating systems. I have had not problems using this with both Windows XP Pro and Windows Vista (Ultimate and Business tested). In addition, I was able to get this to work with Ubuntu (with minicom) without any additional drivers.

USB Travel Kit 1394 Firewire Cable 6 Adapters A/b Review

USB Travel Kit 1394 Firewire Cable 6 Adapters A/b
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
You can use the adapters on this device to adapt the cable to support different kinds of things. One moment, it's a USB cable! The next moment, it's a FireWire cable! And if what you want is a cable that can be used for many different things, this is right up your alley. It works just fine for this purpose.
It does _NOT_, however, convert FireWire to USB or vice-versa. If this is what you need, then you will be disappointed, because it was never intended to do this.

TRENDnet USB to Serial Converter TU-S9 (Blue) Review

TRENDnet USB to Serial Converter TU-S9 (Blue)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This USB-RS232 converter is based on the PL-2303 chipset and is one of the few with true cross-platform support. Other models are lacking drivers for Mac, Linux, Vista, and 64-bit flavors of Windows. If you need something that'll just work no matter what you're running get a USB-RS232 adapter based either on the PL-2303 (like this one) or the FTDI chipsets.
There are other converters out there that provide more reliable data transfer at higher speeds, but this is a great buy for the money and will suffice for just about any task you need it for.
