(More customer reviews)I was annoyed to find that the equipment that came with my new camcorder did not include a cable to connect the camera to my computer. The USB cable that the manufacturer supplied was useless; I could find no software to recognize the connection. I tried locating this cable at a couple of stores in the area, then ordered this.
Well, it works great! It fits the camera, something that "standard" firewire cables don't do. Adobe Premier recognized the connection as soon as I plugged it in and downloaded video for editing.
Now for the hard part: Reducing 2 hours of HD video to something viewable.

XP sees there's a new USB device but is unable to locate any driver, nor asks where one is (as the documentation claims should happen). There is no company or support information, and the seller cable4less / cable4pc only has email. don't buy it

(More customer reviews)I purchased this cable a few weeks ago to replace my bi-directional cable for my HP Deskjet 697C. While I agree that the packaging was poor and left much untold. What I found was a product which I was more than satisfied with. Like the others, I am a Computer Tech. A System Administrator to be exact. I was having communication problems with my printer since purchase. Sometimes the bi-directional communications would work-sometimes not. Print jobs would hang after a couple of pages. This cable has resolved that problem. After reading these reviews, I would like to make mention that the packaging does not guarentee complete compatibility. Remember, this cable is designed to merge two types of communication which were NOT meant to be used on the same peripheral. USB is actually a networking technology. When your printer is connected using this cable, it is seen as a networked printer. If they are not designed to be a network printer, then the limitation is with your printer. And, the bi-directional technology in HP products only serves to provide feedback to the computer like paper outages. The printer works just fine without the bi-directional capability. Though it was a little depressing to find this, it isn't the cables fault. It is just the limitations you get when mixing two types of communication technologies. Overall, I am more than satisfied with the product. Just be smart and do the research before buying and buy from someone who has a return policy if it isn't compatible with your particular printer.

Immediately recognized printer, downloaded driver & said "Ready To Use." Done. I was printing sample sheets in about 2 minutes, start to finish, and I ain't no friggin' genius.

Our Sony TRV19 camera won't record video anymore, so we got a new JVC everio HM200 HD camcorder, but needed to transfer the video from the sony miniDV tapes to the computer. That process only works with this cable type, not a USB cable. I'm half way through the tape transfers right now, working perfectly. Set the camera to the VCR setting (for playback) and imovie 09 finds it, rewinds the tape for you and imports everything perfectly. This cable saved 10 hrs of memories for us. Cheap and useful.

I looked around for USB cables that were around 6 to 10 feet long because the location of my printer is some way from my laptop. This was one of the most affordable ones that I found and it worked without a hitch. Customers buying USB printer connection cables need to find out if the connection requires a male and female contact point (most of the time it is the case), which is exactly what this cable provides. As expected, when I started printing, scanning, and faxing from my computer, all went well.
I also want to make a small comment about the delivery. I expected this product arrive in the Amazon brown box with the cable in a plastic bag thrown within it. The delivery service was actually great from Amazon, and for better insulation and protection, the cable was shipped in a fitting Mediabridge box within the Amazon brown box. So, unlike some third-party sellers on Amazon, I think that its worth highlighting this to other fellow online shoppers about such positive collateral delivery benefits if purchasing from Mediabridge through Amazon.
