High-Speed USB 4-Port Hub with Splitter Cable Review

At first I thought there was problem with the outside tentacles, but it turns out you just have to move things around if you're using items that draw power Vs transferring data. It slows things down ever so slightly---not enough for me to worry about.

Hi-Speed 7 Port USB 2.0 Hub +Power AC Adapter for PC Review

Hi-Speed 7 Port USB 2.0 Hub +Power AC Adapter for PC
Average Reviews:

I only gave it 1 Star, because that's the lowest rating allowed.
Pros: It's a good night light.
Cons: Everything else you would want in a hub - 1) EVERYTHING I plug into it, my Laptop tells me the device would work faster if I bypassed the hub - and it really does slow down my transfers: transferring large files that would take 3 minutes, now take upwards of 20 minutes thru the hub. 2) My mouse would be erratic. 3) With the unit connected to my Laptop, 90% of the time my Laptop would not reboot - had to remove the battery and re-install it for it to reboot. 4) 20-25% of the time, my Laptop would not recognize my external harddrive(s) nor my DVD burner.
Has a good nitelite tho.

Belkin F1U400 4x4 USB Peripheral Switch (12 Mbps) Review

Belkin F1U400 4x4 USB Peripheral Switch (12 Mbps)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought the F1U400 as a KVM switch substitute, allowing me to use a USB mouse and USB keyboard between two computers (I can't use a KVM for my monitor, due to RF interference).
The switch *blinks*. When a USB component is plugged into it, the box indicates this by blinking an LED for that component. The blinking is very distracting, and the design of the LEDs (lots of curves) would make it difficult to cover them up. I've ended up hiding the switch behind my monitor.
The box has four buttons to swap USB components among hosts. Pressing a button once lights up the current host. You then need to press it again to start cycling through the list. The box waits for input for five seconds; only after those five seconds are complete does it reconnect the component. Any other button presses in that time cancel the change. This means that switching from one machine to another is far more laborious than with a normal KVM (particularly if you're switching a keyboard and a mouse separately).
Because I'm operating in a mixed Windows/Unix environment, I haven't installed the Windows switching software.
The F1U400 is probably a reasonable approach for components like printers, mass storage devices and scanners, which won't be moving from machine to machine with nearly the frequency of keyboards and mice. You'll have to hide the LEDs, though.

Belkin TuneSync Charging Dock for iPod (White) Review

Belkin TuneSync Charging Dock for iPod (White)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I recently bought this item and I am quite happy with it. If you buy an Apple Cradle it's about $40 and add a USB 2.0 5-port Hub (which by the way most of them are really ugly and only 4-port) for $20 it's already a bit higher than buying this single device that helps you avoid clutter on your desktop as well.
Pros: no cable clutter, slim design, cradle for ipod and usb 2.0-hub, audio out, usb 1.1 and 2.0 compatible.
Cons: The leds on the front are a bit flashy for my taste, ipod re-connects and goes to "do not disconnect" mode every time I power up any other ac-powered devices connected to the hub.
Overall: Good device, great price.

Thought this USB hub was good. Soon after using it for about an hour, the ports started going bad. Not working. Change to another port. It would either not work or quit very quickly. Wasn't worth hassle of sending it back. Would not purchase again. Not this one.

This item works exactly as described.
I wouldn't purchase this item again for the same reason I purchased it; The brights are extremely bright. It lights up a room. The whole unit is lit with a bright blue light in the middle that flashes. It would be nice if this center light could be dimmed or switched off.
The port lights are steady and I have no issue with them, only the center light.
Perhaps I may need to attach this item to the bottom of the desk.

APC - Hub - 7 x Hi-Speed USB - desktop Review

APC - Hub - 7 x Hi-Speed USB - desktop
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The hub works well overall.
The stand is very light and flimsy so any cable pressure will drag
the unit around or topple it. My stand in particular was not level
so I had to bend it a little to prevent it from wobbling.
An external 2.5" portable drive seems to work fine when plugged into
the hub.
However, even though it is a "powered" hub it does not provide enough
power to charge an iPad (to be fair a lot of PC laptops don't either).
An iPhone was also a bit fiddly as far as getting recognized by iTunes
and getting charged - likely because there is borderline enough power
for it.
Expect to have to charge iPads with a recent Mac's built-in USB port
or external power supply, and iPhones with a Mac/PC's built-in USB
port or external power supply.
The main reasons to get this hub over others (powered or unpowered) are
the good number of ports (7), the fact that it does seem to power external
laptop drives well, and the hopefully better quality and longevity over
other brands (I've read some scary reviews about other powered hubs frying
devices that were plugged into them).

Belkin F5L009 5-Port Network USB Hub Review

Belkin F5L009 5-Port Network USB Hub
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The posts that are complaining about sharing devices, connection issues, etc. need to understand that the problem is with the USB protocol and not the device. USB devices are not designed, or even able, to run on multiple devices at once. Have you ever plugged an external drive into two computer at the same time? Why would this be any different? If you need to access a hard drive from multiple computers at the same time, get a NAS drive. The device also is not designed to power external drives, like the usb powered western digital drives noted in a review. I actually have gotten one to work with no problem, but after talking to a few Belkin guys they don't really know what will or won't work with the device. Any drive that has its own power supply should work with no problems.
Also, you can share between computer easily. If you have to do something with a different computer, you can either request the devices (sort of like IMing) or just click on the disconnect button. Simple, like ejecting a device.
If you understand what this, its awesome and works like a charm. I've gotten all sorts of cool stuff, from midi devices, DVD Burners, Printers, Scanners, cameras, etc. to work with it. The only reason I'm giving it a 4 star is because I accidently plugged in the wrong power cable (12v not the 5v) and blew out the power supply. It should have a buffer, but Belkin replaced it for the cost of shipping, so I can't be to upset about. I actually found myself missing it within a few days of messing with wires!
Also, MAC drivers ( doesn't work with Leopard yet) are available here:
http://www.belkin.com/support/article/?lid=en&pid=F5L009&aid=8547&scid=0
Works great on my Powerbook G4!

Your home computers are networked wirelessly, but with all the digital photos, video and music your family has been collecting, they're all running out of hard drive space. And what's more, you and your kids each need access to a printer. With the Belkin Network USB Hub, you can give each computer on your network direct wireless access to up to 15 devices, including an external hard drive to store your family's digital media and a printer that everyone on your network can share. With this convenient, easy-to-install device, the days of purchasing separate printers and peripherals for each of your computers is over. Share up toFifteen Devices Wirelessly The Belkin Network USB Hub allows you to give every computer connected to your network access to up to 15 USB devices. (The Hub itself will connect directly to five devices, but it also lets you "daisy chain" three additional USB hubs to it, so that you can connect a total of 15 USB devices to your network computers.) While the Hub is specifically designed for printers and mass-storage devices, it also works for most other USB devices, including most standard webcams, keyboards and mice, multifunction machines, scanners, and media readers. Black New 10 Ports USB HUB 2.0 High Speed with Power Adapter Review

Black New 10 Ports USB HUB 2.0 High Speed with Power Adapter
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
A 10 port USB hub might be the "Holy Grail" of tools to connect multiple USB devices.
As others have commented, however, the device feels cheaply made.
USB cables do not seat fully.
Most importantly, assess your power/charging needs before purchasing.
Many reviewers comment on the ability/inability of their USB devices to charge while plugged into various USB hubs. Some of this may be traced to the power supply for the hub. My personal experience is that, depending on the USB hub I'm using, if I'm trying to run a USB cooling fan, charge my iPhone and Blackberry at the same time (while other USB devices are attached), I will get an error message stating power is inadequate, or one of my devices simply won't charge.
Almost all (all?) USB hubs are powered by devices whose DC output is 5V. Most manufacturers do no list on their web site how many amps are provided by the power adapter. The amps can vary widely. On this 10 hub port, the output is 5V at .5A. I have other hubs that cover a range, with some having 4 ports at 3.6A.
So, if you may have the need to attach multiple devices at once, without much need for charging or powering the USB device, this 10 port hub may do the trick. If you travel, and are looking for something to connect and/or charge multiple devices at once, (bluetooth earpiece, Blackberry, iPhone, camera, etc....) USB hubs with low amps may mean only 1 device will charge at a time, while others may not even connect. This can be very frustrating.
It is also important to note the iPads will not charge with a random USB hub, nor will they charge connect directly to a computer. A special power adapter is required to charge the iPad. This is an iPad issue, not a USB hub issue.
It would be helpful if other reviewers would comment on the amps provided by the powered USB hubs they review, and if others could verify this observation.
Any other input by someone who knows/understands the power circuitry would be appreciated, as these are observations only by using various hubs in a trial and error fashion. For example, can one take a power adapter with an output of 5V 3.6 A and safely use this with another hub whose original power adapter has a lower amp rating?

Have two computers, wanted to share a printer. Went to the Giant Electronic Store, the prices were out of sight, you would think I wanted to launch two rockets, so much hardware and instructions. Went on Amazon, ran across this plastic item 4 inches high 1-1/2 wide at a really low price. To make a long story short, ordered it, installed, and WOW, it worked like a charm, you won't be sorry.

Another great product from Belkin. I have used it when traveling with my laptop to hook up extra equipment. I have used it at home with my desktop for some added USB-2 level ports. It is great as it is very small and can fit in a shirt pocket, backpack, shoulder bag or purse. It provides you with 4 ports, high speed transfer rates and it is plug and play so NO SOFTWARE required which is always a good thing. If you need more ports for any USB device this would be a great one, if you require more ports you have several good choices right here on Amazon.
