(More customer reviews)Oh, how I wish I could give this terrible product 0 stars! One star is one too many!
I didn't expect great prints from a printer with this low of a cost but the initial print quality was only barely acceptable. After just 3 prints, the grays in my pictures started printing as light blue. After 6 prints, the black started printing in streaks and the pink stopped working. Cleaning the cartridges' print heads fixed the problem for the pink but not the black. If I print out a letter, it is so streaked that it is unreadable. If I print a picture, it is washed-out, blurry AND streaked. After going through all the offical help steps, the official recomemdation is to replace the black cartridge - after less than 10 prints! At this rate, it will cost me $3 per page to use this printer!
I needed something that would print at least decent quality pictures and text - this was not it!
Be warned - YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR! Spend little - get VERY little in return! If you want a decent ink jet printer - stick with HP, or possibly Epson or Canon. Do NOT waste your money on a Lexmark product.

Brother IntelliFax 2820 Laser Fax Machine and Copier Review

(More customer reviews)If you're in the market for a fax machine this is the one. I also owned the Brother 2800. This is the new and revised version of the 2800. Apparently Brother does improve upon their faults. You can see my review on the 2800 and the downfalls. For a re-cap:
1. 2800 had paper jams when using old paper. The 2820 has a paper feeder like their printers which greatly reduces jams. (I also own brothers laser printer) Now I can use recycled (one-side already printed) paper and not have to deal with jams. Also 2820 holds much more paper in its tray, so you wont have to worry about running out.
2. 2820 has a new feed system which reduces jams when faxing out. I had problems faxing 20+ pages with the 2800, now none with 2820. However they say there is a limit to 20 pages (just add more pages as they feed through).
3. The only downfall is the toner is slightly more expensive. It does print more pages, but does cost a bit more. Fax machine is more expensive also.
Overall, if you don't want to deal with the 2800 problems then pay the extra money for the 2820 and feel confident with its performance. If money is an issue, get the 2800. Personally the few extra bucks is worth it over aggravation when trying to fax/receive.
Another added bonus feature: This fax can also connect to the computer through USB allowing to work as a printer. I currently have this set-up and works very well. Have no issues priting with this fax machine. Great feature if you don't want to buy a printer. (2800 does not have this feature)

We were required to get a digital scanner for our office and our company standard unit costs around $8,000. The person who handled the selection for us happened to know someone who purchased an HP Digital Sender and raved about it. We purchased ours for just over $3,000 saving our company $5,000! I have to add that that $8,000 unit I mentioned only scanned in B&W and the HP Digital Sender scans in both B&W and color! Other than having the machine installed by one of our IT people who wasn't familiar with the machine's operation and gave us no manual AND occasional email problems that are likely internal and not the fault of the Sender, we're THRILLED with this machine. Just this morning - I logged in, selected my scan settings, and scanned four pages in less than 30 seconds. By the time I put the dust cover back on the machine and returned to my office (10' away), my scan was in my email Inbox. This unit allows various image/quality/output settings AND has a pull-out keyboard (we found it almost by accident) so that you can type in your login info instead of tapping letters on the screen! I can't say enough, it is the best office equipment purchase made in our office since our IBM Correcting Selectric Typewriter! REALLY!

Fujitsu ScanSnap S510 Sheet-fed Scanner Review

(More customer reviews)I have horrible problems with technology. I buy stuff, and after 4 hours of trying to get it to do what I thought it should do, it doesn't. HP does this to me all the time.
That is why I was floored when I got the S510 working in under 20 minutes exactly as I wanted it to.
You can take a bunch of pieces of paper, scan in both sides, capture it to PDF, OCR it, make it search-able, save it to disk... all by pressing one button.
I am using the ScanSnap filing system software that comes with it. It is essentially a glorified file explorer, except that it will do text in PDF searches for you based on the directory (Or Cabinet as they call it).
I set mine to extreme compression, and full resolution, and then the auto OCR. The software warns you that it will slow down scanning, and it does. It maxes out my 2-3 year old Dell D600 with .5G of RAM laptop, but it gets the job done. I can still use the computer so it doesn't block like I have read elsewhere (maybe for the S500).
This is an upgrade to the S500. Mine was black, not sure what's up with the white ones (maybe mac?).
It comes with Adobe Acrobat 8. This allows you to delete pages, rotate them, etc.
The OCR is amazing. Out of the box, it gets a little confused with i1IlL but so do I, bump it up to the max resolution, and the OCR is flawless.
I probably won't bother with the try & buy Rack2 Filer. Google Desktop isn't essential for searching.
In the hundreds of papers that I scanned over the weekend, I may have had 3 jams which are REALLY easy to clear, and the software is pretty smart about it.
If I had a newer / heftier computer, things would go A LOT faster (not the fault of the scanner or the software though, I watched my CPU spike and slow during scanning & OCR)
This literally was one of the only pieces of gear I have taken out of the box, and had 100% functional within the hour.
My .005% gripe; Be able to tell the scanner "Yeah, don't scan the backs of these pages" rather than navigate all through the menus. But disk is cheap, and I can always delete it with Acrobat later.
I'll recommend it to my friends & customers.
