LABELMAKER, DYMO LETRATAG LT-100H Review

LABELMAKER, DYMO LETRATAG LT-100H

For the most part this label maker does everything I need it to do. It's very easy to use and has many more font, size, and style options than most others at this price range. However, I'd like the option of different width tapes though, especially when I print something in small font, I have to manually cut off all the extra tape above and below the text.

USB To Parallel Cable Review

USB To Parallel Cable
Average Reviews:

This cable enables you to connect an older, parallel printer to a USB port on your computer at nearly half the price of other cables in this category. If you have a parallel printer, a spare USB port and use Windows XP or 2000, you need this cable. Why? Windows XP and 2000 do not allocate a processor interrupt (IRQ) for the parallel port. This means that Windows must do this on demand and allocate more memory and processing power to the task of printing, which can bring your computer to a screeching halt at least for a few seconds. It will not be like having a new computer, but this small investment may save you time and frustration when you print.

Wasp WWS850 Wrls Lsr Scnr Kt USB Review

This is an excellent scanner.
Be careful when placing your order. For some reason when ordered from Amazon, the order automatically adds a USB cable at an additional $44. I thought that maybe this was because the scanner kit did not include the cable and you really need the cable to set it up. Turns out there is an identical USB cable in the kit and therefore the extra one is just a waste of money.
If this is your first time working with a scanner I strongly suggest you read the instructions. If you plan to make your own labels, you will need a barcode font. There are no free versions, but you can get shareware versions. The most common barcode font is called 3 of 9.

Rhino 5200 Industrial Labeling Tool Review

Rhino 5200 Industrial Labeling Tool

The Dymo labeler is a very good product from the company that invented labelers back in the Fifties. Unfortunately, while the labelers are easy to find, most of the label tapes have to be ordered directly from Dymo. This is complicated by the fact that the company is so secretive about their products. Trying to get them to tell you what options and products are available for the labeler is next to impossible. They will not volunteer information such as what widths the tapes come in or what colors or materials are available, or that there is an optional battery pack and charger. I got the impression that none of the Dymo customer service people had ever seen or used a Dymo labeler, so I had to ask very specific questions that they could then look them up in their computers and read the answers to me. For instance, if I asked what widths were available, they couldn't tell me, but if I asked if they had 3/8" clear polyester tape, they could look that up and tell me yes. Of course, that limited me to the products I could imagine might exist. They are also slow to ship, so I had the labeler for about two weeks before I got tape so I could use it. The labeler itself is well made, but very non-intuitive. It takes a lot of time, effort, and wasted tape to figure it out. When printing two lines, I have to use 1/2" tape, but set the labeler for 3/4" tape and then select medium print. Otherwise, it prints way too small for the label width. On the plus side, it does things that other labelers won't do, such as printing clear or metallic labels or printing directly on over-priced heat shrink.
I bought the 5200 to replace my old Dymo embossing labeler that I can no longer get tape for. I think I'll like it once I get it figured out, but it's a lot of work.
